New Star Trek RTS
« on: December 28, 2005, 04:36:47 am »
As has already been noted in other places I surf, there is a new star trek RTS being made.  It will be in 3d with a y, x, and z axis, sort of in the way homeworld had all three axis, but different in how they work.

I'm hoping that this game is made well, and is a good game.

I'm of the opinion that for once it might actually include all eras for multiple types of ships in it.

What do you guys Want in such a game, and which ships would you like.

I'm thinking the Constitution class, the Galaxy Class, and the Soveriegn classes as well...probably the miranda, the Intrepid, the Defiant, and maybe the Enterprise classes.

Hopefully the Akira and Saber, as well as maybe a Excelsior class starship.

Klingons for sure with Birds of Prey and probably the Vorcha, maybe the K'vort or K'tinga.

Romulans with their original Birds of Prey as well as the TNG Warbird.

Borg?  Don't know, they aren't as popular for being played, though people do like playing against them...unsure

What are your ideas.

Hopefully it will be more based on exploration and or the starships, rather than resource gathering...those are my thoughts.

I'm not certain who the developer is off hand without learning more...though the producer is Paramount and I believe Harry may be involved (he's the source that talked about it sooooo).

Do you have any linkage to this talk?  I'm not finding anything on it.

Sorry, don't know how to actually get you the source, I found out about it, but forgot where...HOWEVER after an hour of searching and trying to figure it out I DID stumble across something...albeit in a very different forum and place.

Here's hoping the link works

PS:  Still searching for where I read it all.

Addendum:  Here's yet another post on the subject, not the one with Harry, but it has some stuff on it, and as you can see it appears it's been in development for at least a little while.

Sounds like it could actually be the Trek version of the forthcoming Star Wars RTS and oddly familiar sounding "Empire at War."

I was thinking the same thing.

Hopefully it will be far superior to Armada/Armada II.  I never really liked either one of those games, and I really didn't like how they tried to balance the Borg so it would be even with the other three races.

Personally, I was hoping for something along the lines of an SFC/BC crossover in the vein of EVE and the X series, but when one's in the middle of a Trek famine, one should be greatful for whatever one gets.
