Ya, I was on a bit late, and I'm not just some 'noob' Mr. Frey. I got TS set up properly finally and was waiting to get into a game but nobody gave up the IP number. Will someone PLEASE enable the text option on Dyna's TS server so others know I'm alive until I get a mic.

Text messages will work on TS, but you have to be able to SEE the text message, something you can't always do if you're in a gameroom.
Another advantage of Ventrillo...you can simply type a message and you hear a computerized voice repeat your text message for all to hear... ;)

This was a while back but at one point I had a few players from here playing Alien vs Predator on GS.  That was a blast.... there is nothing like biting the head of someone you know vs a complete stranger!

Need practice?
Check this other posts in this thread for all the updates, etc.
Let us know when you're set up and we can do some Co-Op missions together with Tool and Frey if you want.

Put some PPCs and a LBX 10 on that bad boy and watch the Panther crumble... ;)

Need ...more...pulse lasers..

Pulse Lasers are rapid fire, but low damage. Good for some situations, yes...
But, as far as damage ratio to tonnage of weapon combined with heat generated, PPCs are, IMO, best for almost any situation.
Xpulse are better than regular pulse, but, the heat generation is tremendous and require careful use or you'll overheat frequently.

With ACs, Gauss and PPCs, you have to slightly lead moving targets...faster targets require more lead.
They do take a little practice to get used to, for sure.
Lasers require very little lead as they travel to the target faster.
But the ACs, Gauss and PPCs pack considerably more punch.

And the Marauder and WarHammer are some of the few Mechs that can carry them.
Just like the Pulse lasers, tho...heat can be a big factor in a continuous firing situation.

Oh big time. You need about 25+ heat sinks to run a pair, at least to fire continuously.

I found those coolant pods work well with them too.

If you'd care to clarify, just PM me.

Now, Hexx, regarding Pulse Lasers, trust me on this...you HAVE to learn ballistics lead. It is ESSENTIAL that you learn how to fire ballistics in this game. I heard t00l bitch about the missile lock on time for LRMS, but I have found when you are using the reticle zoom you lock on considerably faster. As well, with the Mod we're running you've got LRM's + Artimus, which makes lock ons almost immediate with the appropriate mech.

Hexx, take a mech with RAC2's and go distance shooting at a fast moving light mech - the "continuous" fire rate of the RAC2 will allow you to get the "feel" for ballistics lead time, but I wouldn't stop there, practice with the AC10's and 20's - because AC20's especially are multiple shots - meaning to get the full damage potential of the AC20, you've got to make sure all the slugs hit - not just the first one or the last one.

Try Streak SRM if you really want some drone...err missiles on your mech don't want to wait for a lock on. The Clan S SRM is like 4 tons, and does reasonable damage per heat. Having multiple energy based weapons don't have the "punch" that the larger ballistics do...and that can make all the difference.

The Streak Medium's (SMRM) are nice too - heavy bastards but they do a buttload of damage and better range than the SRM's.

IMHO ..   I prefer a balance ...

A few high energy weapons ..   BUT DEFINITELY balanced with some ballistics.  I prefer the energy weapons that are faster reloading with less heat (if possible ..  depending upon the mech class).  I really love the Gauss ! While it's a more precise weapon ..   the damage to tonage ratio can not be ignored.

As for the "X" pulse ....   for get them.  The damage might be good ..   but the amount of heat/damage to rapid reuse ratio is waaaaaaay off.  IMHO that renders them useless unless you have someone covering your backside while your mech cools down in between reloads.

(Hard to believe Ol Buzzard would actually be in DISfavor of an "X" weapon ...  )
