Now, Hexx, regarding Pulse Lasers, trust me on this...you HAVE to learn ballistics lead. It is ESSENTIAL that you learn how to fire ballistics in this game. I heard t00l bitch about the missile lock on time for LRMS, but I have found when you are using the reticle zoom you lock on considerably faster. As well, with the Mod we're running you've got LRM's + Artimus, which makes lock ons almost immediate with the appropriate mech.
Hexx, take a mech with RAC2's and go distance shooting at a fast moving light mech - the "continuous" fire rate of the RAC2 will allow you to get the "feel" for ballistics lead time, but I wouldn't stop there, practice with the AC10's and 20's - because AC20's especially are multiple shots - meaning to get the full damage potential of the AC20, you've got to make sure all the slugs hit - not just the first one or the last one.
Try Streak SRM if you really want some drone...err missiles on your mech don't want to wait for a lock on. The Clan S SRM is like 4 tons, and does reasonable damage per heat. Having multiple energy based weapons don't have the "punch" that the larger ballistics do...and that can make all the difference.
