that may be a result of the jpg conversion. The red does seem brighter in the bmp and I think I used the color picker and used a fairly standoutish red.

That, and the letters need to be bent just a wee bit more :)
And oh, I do see what you are trying to rebash/retexture  ;D

I agree, much better texturing then I can ever do with my models.  What is wrong with the Red?  It looks just fine to me.

How do you do that, curve the registry like that I mean.  The Registry on my FDD Saucer textures are still rail straight.  Can you do that with Gimpshop or Ultimate Paint...or Paint?

The best programs for registries, as far as I know, are Paintshop Pro and Adobe Photoshop.  I use Photoshop and my registries come out quite nicely.  Never be the best above all, but my registry work can stand up to others.

The curve of the registry needs to be more severe, and the stroke needs to be set inside, not outside, and reduce the opacity to roughly 70 percent at most.  This is all depending on if you're using Photoshop.  Here's a sample.  Since I only made it for demonstration, I didn't bother much with increasing the JPEG quality when saving, but if you follow my advice, you should get something like this.

Also, one more bit of advice.  In my opinion, if using Photoshop, it's always a good idea to use a larger font size than you need, and rescale the text layer down to what you want.  This helps to preserve quality when doing registries in Photoshop, and also if you're using the Warp Text tool, since the tool tends to stretch the text.

Examples below.

hmm, you used a slightly different method. I created 115 point font on a new transparent 1024 x 1024 image. I created the font all red, bent it at 26 or 27 degrees (any more is bent too much or too little based on the hull plate lines) infatc it seems to be 26.5 but it wont allow decimal. In any event, I then rasterized it, used the wand to select all the interiors and fill with black, then scaled down the entire image untill I could drag or copy and paste and move the registrey into position by hand on the other image.

hiya SF2,
Just outta curiousity, how do you get the panel lines randomly placed like that ?? you use a template sheet or something with the panels already drawn, or is the effect created in photoshop ??

Rasterizing text isn't something you want to do unless you've got the text exactly how you want it.  If you rasterize it and then resize it later on and find it's not at the size you want, you're screwed, cause then you have to undo everything.

not if I save before i do it which I do, Plus if I make it too small I used the undo buttom. I started at 1024/1024 And i think I had to run it down to 220/220 or 200/200 before it was the right size for the saucer.

That's more work that you need, but it's your registry work.

well, unfortuneatly the bottom is proving much mroe dificult. As I bend the text into the arc for some reason it's making the registrey wider and now wont fit on a 2048/2048 image. I'll hafta incrse it to 3000+ res to make it fit I guess. Wish there was a better way of determining the bend then guessing.

Use a arc as a reference point you can delete its layer afterwards, or if Photoshop supports use the arc to apply the text to and make the arc invisible later
