Who's on Gamespy?
« on: November 01, 2005, 09:01:21 am »
Check here to see:

http://www.dynaverse.net/gslist.php

(takes a moment to load because of what it is doing)

I may get the chance to tidy it up a bit but it is functional as is. I came up with this while looking at trying to get a D2 serverlist on a webpage, which I would still like to see... would be quite handy I think, especially if it reported the directory server status too... (as it is down right now)

It won't show who's in the lobby, only active rooms, with a short delay. (probably explains what you saw) Check it at a busier time and you'll see what I mean.

I could add a hook to the chat channels for the gamespy chat server to our chat applet (or create a separate page for that linked from the rooms page, or perhaps embedded in it...)

e.g: http://www.dynaverse.net/irc_chat.php  (I could set one up for the gamespy chat server that would display the chat channels for gamespy SFC lobbies, but gamespy is pretty touchy about use of their chat server, they tend to kick dynaverse servers from it...)

I guessed that it only showed opened rooms.

But still there was one room open, and it did not show up in the page.

I'll try again at a busier time and see what happens.  I'll let you know too.

Thanks,
Strat

Cool. Thanks for the feedback.  It is a work in progress. (it seems there is a delay between room creation and when it is listed by this method...)

That's really cool Bonk...maybe if people can check easily and see people on..they will log in and play a few rounds....without a quick view...the log in can take a few...and most people (being the lazy sots they are) wont take the time to check unless they are to meet someone there...

WELL DONE!

Now for that sprites file... ;)

I'm on GSA.  In Star Wars Battlefront II.  So far it's not that great.  Dagobah and Endor are killing my graphics card.  And people just run and jump everywhere. It's a bit silly.

System Specs:

Dell Dimension E521
AMD64x2 5000+
2G DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3
250GB SATA HD

I've got a chat interface almost working now. You can see the general chat on it but not send to it, private chats work 2-way though (double-click a name in the list) .

There are links to each chat lobby on the GSA room list page now. I just need to get the general chat working 2-way and polish up the look of the page a bit...

P.S. I have called for help on the sprites file Crim, waiting on a reply.
