Dial-Up Issue
« on: November 09, 2005, 08:56:39 pm »
I would like to try building the serverkit using the latest VC++ tools. (Instead of the dated ones I have)

I have already downloaded:
Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003: http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/vctoolkit2003/
Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/visualc/download/
MySQL++: http://tangentsoft.net/mysql++/  (as a possible alternative to MS ADO)

But the remaining required downloads are a bit large for me to download over my pathetic 31.2Kbps dial-up connection.
DirectX 9.0 SDK Update - (October 2005):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=1C8DC451-2DBE-4ECC-8C57-C52EEA50C20A&displaylang=en
DirectX 9.0 SDK Update (October 2005) Symbol Files:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0ACABD84-74E7-4A8C-8B42-D5A2468126AF&displaylang=en
Windows® Server 2003 SP1 Platform SDK Full Download:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=EBA0128F-A770-45F1-86F3-7AB010B398A3&displaylang=en
(a total of 634 MB which could take weeks on this connection, but would fit neatly on one CD...)

Is there a kind soul out there who would be willing to download these files, burn them to a CD and mail them to me?
If so, let me know and I'll PM you my mailing information.

Thanks for the thought SkyFlyer, but Hexx should have the disk on the way this week. I have everything all set up and waiting, latest code updates, apropriate VC includes updated etc... just need the platform and directx SDK's, my compile finger is itching to press the button! The kit does not use MFC so theoretically will compile with Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition... (good to keep it all free if possible). The question currently in my mind is will this require the scripting API to be updated and scripts recompiled under the latest VC++ as well..? I'm looking at trying to replace MS ADO and the MyODBC connector with the mysql++ C++ library, but that will take some work... I'm dyin to test this out...

Got the disk OK today Hexx. Thanks! As it turns out all was readable despite that nasty scratch. I'm truly amazed. It's gonna take a bunch of work to get the serverkit to compile under VC8 but I can still use the latest SDKs with VC6 in the meantime. Thanks bunches dude, you rock!  ;D
