I hate to say this but I will NEVER buy a cheap P/S again. The 480W one that I had in my desktop syst was slowly cooking itself.

Yesterday, I went up to Fry's and bought a Aspire 500W w/ dual cooling fans. I have yet to run SH3 to test it. I also took the cover off the old P/S w/ great

dread that a capaciter popped. Not the case. One of two coils was burned. I will post pics when I get the chance.

I always reccommend a quality power supply. Myself I use Antec mostly. Add a decent UPS too, I do.

Agreed! When I bought my current case it had a no-name supply in it which promptly got tossed for a better one. I'm also a firm believer in running a UPS to help filter out the spikes and burps we have in our power here in the southern US....

Years ago I read of a study that showed that 85% of all computer crashes were caused by power glitches. That convinced me to get a UPS for all my systems. Later as I learned more I began to insist on quality power supplies as well. Combined with how I format my HDs the power quality pays off with exceptional windows stability.
