Specifically, the Kushan Avatar-Class Heavy Cruiser.

[Stats from the Homeworld Unit Viewer]

Mass: 800,000 tons
Firepower: 19,000
Armor: 70,000
Coverage: 80%
Manuverability: Very Low
Max Velocity: 190 m/s

Kushan Avatar Class Heavy Cruiser

If you think of Fleet Command as a Goddess-as most pilots in the Kushan fleet jokingly do--then the Heavy Cruiser is nothing less than a projection of divine wrath onto the mortal plane.  The Avatar class Heavy cruiser is the most powerful vessel constructed since the Mothership.  Over four times the size of a Revelation class Destroyer, the Avatar can direct more firepower than any ship in the fleet, and can absorb amazing amounts of damage while still remaining combat effective.

An excellent firing arc is provided by six heavy turrets, each mounting dual rail guns, each gun almost half the size of an entire frigate.  While these turrets can engage and destroy more nimble opponents, even more fear is inspired by the four twin-mounted ion cannons.  Against this kind of withering fire, even Mothership class vessels cannot stand for long.

Avatars are the stars of any Kushan fleet that can afford the massive resources required to build and crew them.  The ship's complement--150 engineers, gunners and command crew positions aboard a Heavy cruiser--are the choicest assignments throughout the fleet, and even more vied-for than bridge positions aboard the Mothership.  If there is an Avatar in the fleet, it will always be at the center of whatever action is occurring, and ambitious personnel can find no better place to earn distinction and recognition.  Of course, while the Avatar is powerful and very heavily armored, it is not invulnerable--with every enemy gun trained on it, the Avatar's tactical priority is as much to draw fire from more vulnerable ships as it is to destroy enemy vessels.  As a result, the repair systems aboard a Heavy Cruiser are the most sophisticated to be found in the fleet.

(From the crew compliment, I'd imagine it's fairly Miranda-class size compared to ST vessels.)

Are there any conversions?  I have the model for the unit viewer.  But it's a .SHIP format.

I'd contact Darkdrone about this topic. I *think* he did a bunch of conversions before.

There are some floating about but since the homeworld makers did not want their ships ported to other games there has never been or will there be a offical place you can find them.
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

Remember the axiom of big government bureaucrats: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. When, finally, under the crushing weight of taxes and regulation, it stops moving, subsidize it.

It should be known that many of HW's models include turrets- something not supported in SFC.

Personally I'd like to see some vaygr ships done for SFC- namely the Vayger DD and BC. The latter doesn't have turrets, just a forward weapons system (A helbore I suppose), missiles, and a laser-defense system (Ph3s?)

The fighters would be easy though, since all of them don't have turrets.

Ah the dreaded homeworld requesting. I've gotten alot of these models from the original game and converted them to 3ds, but a word of caution to someone who wants to attempt this. All texture co-ordinates are usually lost when reconverting. Also as has been suggested every capital ship uses turrets so somethings going to have to be put in their place. Also quite a few of the models are much lower quality because of low poly counts, so its a bit of a task to get them looking half decent. Still, if I can find my archive I'll see what I've got already remapped.

Cool.

Well, the Kushan Heavy Cruiser has only forward facing guns (That I can distinguish).  So I was thinking 4 PhX (Two with two shots each), 3 PhB, and 3 PhA.  And maybe a two-shot Ph3 in the rear.  Including the obligatory LC missile luncher.

...You, can add PhX/B/A to a ship in ShipEdit, right?  'Cuz if you can I think I'm gonna skip the torpedoes.  More power for the X & Bs.

Sounds broken, but meh.  Could be fun.

as F_W  said some r potred. but there is a no go on any kinda of sharing. ie- they will try to sue u if they find out u done it. lol, as far as the first HW goes havent seen that its gone open source so im not sure there. so  just be cautious there on this subject. as i have found there are still about 15 games there that forbid any kind of ports of there items. mostly just a technicality. im waiting on word from a few other games too.

The source code for Homeworld was released, which is of course not the same as "going open-source."  ;)  The download of the source code did not include ships, music, or any other game-specific material; indeed, it didn't even include all of the source code, so it was more-or-less useless.  :(

In other words.  Unless I can get someone to make a new model from scratch, I'm screwed.

My ego's starting to hurt again...ow.

Well, there is a team working on making new models of Homeworld ships for a Homeworld 2 mod...  They haven't made a release yet AFAIK, but maybe they could be persuaded to make their models available for porting to other games once they do...

Not a website as such, apparently, but a forum: http://requiemwar.tengun.net/forum/

Hmm... the Requiem war team.

Good luck trying to get their models. I'm not sure if they'd be open to releasing them early for other games, but from some attempts by other mods to get their models (Specificly the Point Defense Mod), it's said that they won't release any of their material until they're prepared and set to launch a full alpha version of the game, with both sides more or less complete and functional.
