At last I can say Hello to the Dynaverse 2 community
« on: October 20, 2005, 05:47:37 am »
Well after a lot of tweaking downloading, dead links and repetitive installs I finally have my OP install working with Dynaverse. Have to say mainly my fault for not reading enough in this forum. Would like to say thank to Mr Nuclear Wessels himself for helping me solve some of my model problems.

As an SFB player I love this game. I have only played mp on LAN. Now I am starting to play PVP on Gamespy and Dynaverse II.

Already I have found both groups friendly and helpful and am looking forward to a lot of good gaming. Though I have to say I am still getting my butt kicked still a lot to learn.

You do have scotch and cookies, right?  You can't play without scotch and cookies.

And aspirin!  You'll need lots of aspirin!  The Klingons tend to shout a lot.   (Don't let it bother you, it's just their way of saying hello; sort of like Romulans shooting you in the head.)

Thanks guys, used to play a lot of sfb so most of that is pretty familiar, played ST OR for a while to now but not online. Just got to get used to humans as apposed to a pretty easy AI.

Would def agree with the points made in this thread cant approach SFC like SFB, similar rules but different, very different results.

Why in the world is this post stickied here? Dont we have enough stickies? Who is actually gonna read this stuff? This thread needs to go, there are too many stickies already. If you want so many damned stickies, then post a thread that has links. Then half the stickies can get dumped. Like this post: http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163360190.msg1122622242.html#msg1122622242. Should be titled Dynaverse.Net Community Resources AND LINKS. And wtf unstickied my kill thread? WTF?

I have no idea who did all this. Certainly wasn't me.

edit: I agree, too many stickies, that's why we created the sub forums... perhaps another sub-forum is needed?

edit2: unstickied, and kills thread re-stickied as requested. (I imagine someone stickied this because Father Ted asked if we have bookmarks, which I don't think we do, looking into mod...)  Suggestions for a new sub forum category are welcome (Misc Stickies?)

I modified a sub forum and moved a bunch of posts there to clean up.

Also, I spilt this topic to create a new topic for the posted tactics:

Hey, nice work, Bonk! Looks a LOT cleaner.

I'll get around to a post thread with all the links we want to sticky here. The dynaII peeps are lazy. We dont want to search around, hehe.

I would love to see a thread that has all the files and mods to allow newbs like me to get on to dynaverse. I took a lot and I mean a LOT of searching to find the right threads and some help from Tavern to get me sorted and I am a damm good techie and have not had problems like this getting on to a game. I do know that the guys that run this do it for the love not the money and they definitely get my respect for that.

But we need a clear and defined source for these files. I have a fair ammount of spare web space and would be happy to hold some f the files and would be happy to help keep them up to date and available.

If you say yes please dotn laugh at the site started learning HTML 2 weeks ago and have also started to teach myself Java, damm modernisation whats wrong with SNA and IPX based networks   ::)

1) http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163359567.0.html

2) http://www.dynaverse.net/downloads/sfc2_op/

A generous offer, and much appreciated, but just your critique on our organisation here is helpful enough! (of course extra backups can't hurt, and one can never have enough...)

P.S. Anything but java, please, I beg you... you'll thank me...  ;)
