OP and XP?
« on: December 08, 2005, 06:50:53 pm »
Soooo, anything in particular one needs to know to get OP working with Windows XP?  I Finally got my new PC and need to get OP all installed, updated and working so I can go provide comedy for all watching me try to fly a Klingon ship in KCW.  Hexxx, how much for a Klink with ESG's installed?

As far as i am aware It should run fine on XP, never had any problems whatsoever installing or running OP in XP.

Hiya Kriz, long time.

Try running the other .exe file.  StarfleetOP.exe.

Though it should work with either. Sal (oScottyo) has XP and it runs fine on his rig.  I'm using 2k and I have to run it from StarfleetOP.exe or I get the odd mouse issue.

I would HIGHLY recommend you simply load the OP CD and then download pesty's EXCELLENT enhancemnet pack found here:
http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163355999.0.html
It'll give you patches, fixes, OP+4.0, EZini as well as a host of other useful SFCOP-related stuff.
You can even choose if you wish to install a lot of the xtras.  ;)
Try it, you won't be disappointed!   ;D
And XP runs OP perfectly.  ;)

The only thing you have to worry about is that nasty little built-in XP firewall.  Once you've turned that off, you'll be fine.

While were on the topic of getting old players up to speed again... anyone know where I might find another copy of OP? Looks like mine was eaten, either by my desk or my youngest, not sure...

Last I heard Dog & Capt Jeff were hoarding the last few copies in the free world. Do they still have any?

Geez, first I see Pardek lurking in the shadows and now Renegade shows his face - what ever happened to the SPQR mantra - we don't exist? :)
