I hate BB's- rule proposal
« on: October 19, 2005, 10:30:57 am »
As cool acting RM guy (damn hurricanes) I'd like to propose that if one
side fields a BB , the other side is immune to fleeting rules for as long as the BB is on
the server.
So one side would have the BB plus CA escort
the other could run 2xDN + a BCH against it.

As soon as the BB isn't in play the regular rules would apply.

EDIT- and while I'm on a rant, I'd also like to propose that the
"redraft" attempt if a player (or players) crash is limted to one- and that one goes
with luck of the draw.
So you have a 3v3, 2 people drop you redraft (if desired) and go with
that, even if the same people drop.
Trying 3 or 4 times for a successful draft seems a little ridiculous.

Ur insane with the fleeting exemption...

The retrying mission thingy sounds good for a one try redo UNLESS the players agree to keep beating a dead horse.

Agree with you on the drop and reconnect issue -- that rule is supposed to be in palce to get the game going -- not to waste an hour TRYING to get the game going.  If players drop -- -everyone try one more time -- if it still dont work -- all palyers should move off the hex -- then call it open season again?? sound good Diz?

As for the BB issue -- dont really know what to say - I do know that several teams of coalition players were having great games vs diz and his bb last night. Granted Diz didnt always have a wing which allowed the two smaller ships to work effectively vs diz..

Nah, It's only insane if you feel the need to fly a Battleship

And not exactly what I'm proposing Duck,
the second time should be a go( unless as Diz suggests everyone wants to try a third time)

You try it- if the mission fails you draft a second time (although you
can of course have someone else draft)
The second draft should be fought ( or run away from) with
all the consequences of t00l running away.

I like this

You also seem to have a fondness for canines..

t00l & Shadowlord are on a hex, Dizzy & DH jump & draft them
someone (t00l) crashes
everyone logs back one, tries again- this time Dizzy drafts, someone crashes

Everyone backs off and it's "open season"
t00l & Shadowlord move back onto the hex
Dizzy & DH jump them
someone crashes...

-vs-
t00l & Shadowlord are on a hex, Dh & Dizzy jump them
someone crashes
retry
second time someone also crashes- but this time disengagement penalty applies

Example 1 accomplishes nothing on hot spot.
Example 2 moves someone out of the hex.

This is way too much trouble either way.  Just draft and play.  If someone drops, then someone drops.

It's war.  Sometimes you get caugt in a bad spot.

If players drop -- -everyone logoff and completely disable or uninstall your software firewalls then login to try one more time -- if it still dont work -- all palyers should move off the hex -- then call it open season again??

I like this better.

Since only one BB can be fielded I don't see any need to unrestrict the other sides from fleeting rules.  Let them field their own BB and go after it if it bothers them so much and they fell they cant take it with a DN and legitimate escort.

Battleship duels would be interesting, with someone possibly losing one.

I like Hexx's rule. This is why I was against the fleeting restriction in the first place. It doesn't make sense with BB's on the board.

It wasn't the planet that killed the ISC BB I was flying on SGO4.   It was that bastardly-clever Firesoul and the ED base defense mission he drafted Greywolf and I in.   Firesoul had the luxury of having 2 full Hydran starbases in a mission where we had been drafted behind the lines and could not disengage.

I blame Kroma.   If he had not teased me by sitting on that hex with his Gorn DNH I would still be flying that ship.    ::)

It made for a good fireworks show to the civilians on Ghdar.   It's the least I could do.   ;D

Like I said just go get your own BB and fight it out, if you don't like the opposition having one on.

A well escorted BB would be hard pressed to find itself disengaging from any non BB opposition fleet. That said, its still possible to put together a fleet that can catch a BB with one or none of its escorts. I had this happen 2x last night and the fights proved to be spectacular.

Whatever anyone says about a BB not being able to be taken down by a non BB fleet is smoking crack. Its easy. Rock paper scissors. Just make sure u bring all three to the fight and the BB fleet has one less. ;)

Lets see... the British brought how many BB's to counter the Bismark & the Prince Eugen?

Yet we can't even fly a BCH with a dread....
