Question break repairs

How much should they cost for a Toyota Camry. Mine need fixed bad. Should I be able to get it done for around 400 or so.? I know nothing about fixing cars other than the simple stuff.And even that I some times screw up.

Trying to deside which in the long run would be cheaper, fixing what needs fixed on it which is quite a bit or traiding it in,As is I can only fix things a little at a time.

If it's just new brake pads, that's shouldn't cost more than $150 or so.

What Dracho said. The only additional cost would be If the rotors are bad. Then they would need to be turned or Replaced. If turned, any machinest can do that. Heck, I can talk to Nathan, and see If he can do a Brake job for you If you can buy the pads.

$150?! Sheesh I changed the pads AND rotors on my GM car for <$100   :D

Pads for $150 !?

Someone got ripped off.

If pads cost you anymore than $50 ($30 for In nation cars...so probably more like 60 to 100 MAX for foreign vehicles) I'd say go shopping for prices at other locations in your area.

Where I work we sell those for about $30 and turn the rotors for $8 each....even paying someone to do it shouldn't cost $400!

Advance auto parts, where I used to work long ago. Whenever you install new pads, ALWAYS have the roptors turned (Cut down smooth, then make sure they sand it in circles to allow a firm surface for the pads to "grab" the newly turned rotors).

Make an acct then price online, many pads carry a lifetime warranty as long as you own the car!

BTW K, make sure the shop that you choose for repairs "bleeds" the brake system completely. When you look at the brake fluid reservoir, it should be a clearish color, NOT black as that shows contaminants that destroy rubber seals and attracts RUST!
