Unless you have an Ipod go ahead and install it. IF not it is nearly impossible to uninstall the software.

My thinking on this you would have to do a complete reinstall of windows.

There is ONE component that WILL NOT allow you to delete. (CORRECTION) it will allow you to.

It was the downloaded install .exe that would not allow you to uninstall. Or for that matter delete.

But go into properties of that .exe and advanced and uncheck archive it will allow to.

I will never use a Ipod, they look nice but I don't like the restrictions of it's use.  I'll stick with MP3 format players (Iriver, Creative, etc.) that I have some control on how I can use the content.

Once a file is in MP3 format, the DRM stuff is gone. iPods will play MP3 just fine.
Perhaps you are referring to the AAC DRM on iTunes purchased songs? There is no other purchased (legal) online songs that do not have some sort of DRM.

One definite iPod drawback: won't play DRM-protected WMA
but then again, Windows Media Player can't play AAC-DRM. Pick your poison.....

Look, all you need do is burn your iTunes-purchased songs to CD, rip back as MP3 or whatever, and the DRM is gone.

Thanks for that bit of information.  I was under the impression that iPod's would only play AAC files.  That totally changes my opinion of the iPod.  I think I would still go with the Creative Zen but only because it has a built in FM tuner.  But you totally changed my opinion in regards to iPod, thanks again.

My GF has a Zen.  Had an earlier model that 'died'.  Had to replace it with something of similar size and cost.

Hmm... For the price of the Zen 40gb - get a random smaller Ipod.

We're like.  Um, why should i LOSE capacity and pay higher cost to replace something that died. iPod not that cool

Yeah got a zen for my wife... it totally owns the ipod... Especially if you want HIGH QUALITY MP3  (192K) The Ipod Mini a buddy of mine has actualy "chunks" on 256K MP3s that I use as a standard for all my choral recordings (Keeps the overtones intact).

Zen has no problem with any of the MP3s I have put on there.  Plus the interface program isn't spyware.  LOL
