Could someone make this?
« on: October 14, 2005, 02:01:55 am »
I kitbashed this picture a while ago and was wondering if someone could model it if they think its worth it?

this is a good design idea but you should add a dual torpedolauncher on the underside of the saucer instead of getting it out to the front (Shanks and Cheetah classes have such torplaunchers)
and in the front were your torp launcher is you should add three small deflectors

*shrugs* The miranda doesn't have any major deflector dishes to contend with, why does this one have to?

Put a rollbar on the top, swing the torpedo launcher up there and it'll look like a cool ship I'd have sub as my CL.

A rollbar wouldn't look that great imho without the extra deck structure of a miranda. I say leave the torp where it is.. This is obviously a specialsed vessel with those soyuz antenna, not a destroyer.

I normally don't care for kitbashes and I've never actually made one before (I prefer to make models from scratch), but this one piqued my interest.  Here's a rough kitbash I just put together from P81's Enterprise and Cleeve's Soyuz class from Staryards.

Nice job Mr.T, though personally I'm not keen on this particular design I'm sure a few people will enjoy having this ship in game.

It's not quite finished and I haven't gotten permission yet.  jep2000316, can you post some more details on how the torpedo launchers and shuttle bay (I'm assuming that the thing on the back is a shuttle bay) is supposed to look?  Does everyone think the models I'm using are ok (assuming I get permission from P81 and Cleeve), or are there some other ones I should look in to?

Thats great!!!! I knew someone whould try it ;D..  As for my idel for it I think of it as a deep space scout hence the extra sensor pods(the Soyuz antennas) and two impulse engines. It would have a small crew therefore it doesn't have the extra deck structure lke the Miranda.I would like a small Shuttle bay on but I don't know where one would work..On the picture I put on the aft  part of the Saucer between the Impulse engines but I don't think that really works.

I like what you done so far..As for the Torps and Shuttle bay ..I'm not married to either so use your best judgement just keep the basic shape and look and I'm happy. ;D

*Shrugs* Again, why not? The shuttlebay would work there, since you have a 'split' engineering I assume.

Yea sure that would work..I just wondered if it would seem big anough(Yes I know that really dosen't matter)for a Shuttle bay.. I mean it would only carry maybe two shuttles so it wouldn't need to much room.

Unless we're also writing up deck plans for this ship, we don't really know how big or small the shuttle bay actually is.  All you can see from the outside is the hanger doors, so relatively small hanger doors doesn't necessarily mean a small shuttle bay.

Ok.. then leave it there and see what you can do..Thanks you doing a great job.I just like seeing something I "designed" coming to lfe so to speak.

for my taste it looks more bad with this Torpbay sticking out of the front of saucer on the model, than it looked at the schematic/blueprint

Yeah, and I wasn't too fond of the chicago model (SFB) with it's weapons hanging off of the front of the saucer.

Why not replace the two lower (Phaser batteries? Sensor pods?) with torpedo tubes instead? It would free up the front for the supposed saucer navigational deflector (or were those elsewhere? anyway-) and it wouldn't look so...odd?

two cents.

That sounds like a good idea.  I wasn't planning on leaving the front of the saucer like that anyway.  That was just some very rough mesh adjusting to make it look more like the picture.  I was planning on replacing the boxy saucer front with two small, somewhat rectangular shaped deflector dishes on either side of the torp launcher, but Norsehound's idea sounds like it will look better.

I'm having some problems with my computer and am reinstalling Windows.  Don't worry, I have all of my work saved, so as soon as I have everything up to speed again I can get back to work on this ship.

And if we're really onto adding stuff, why not put a rollbar where the two top sensor pods are now?

Just a thought, as a variant also. I like having the angled pylons on a Miranda-like hull :D

As for the Shuttle bay, may I suggest having a "Landing Pad" on the top portion of the Saucer section?  I remember a few designs have this on Salidin class ships as a way to make a small Shuttle bay for Single saucer Section ships.  As as a way to increase the hull structure more, how about adding an exta "flush" deck to the AFT/Bottom section of the ship?  This would give a little extra room the the "Landing Pad" idea, and a little extra room for an Engineering section.
