perhaps a texture is missed from the zip alltogether then? Because when it occoured in the preble there was a slot that was pcx file extension that is for that area, and as far as I know whenever you load a modfile in max and the textures are not in the folder with the model are changed to pcx instead of bmp in the material editor. Either that, or, you forgot a texture when you packed the preble and the original is an oddball size and thus not showing in your pix. Strange really.
And as for the sns gal, I will see if I can get ahold of scotchy and get him to send me the mesh pre-conversion. I am fairly certain he mentioned to me before about sfc ports so I will give him a pm right now.
