Damage points...
« on: October 07, 2005, 09:19:49 pm »
How does one apply damage points?  I mean, is there a specific layout that they need to be placed, a method used to place them, or do you pretty much slap them anywhere on a model?

I'm currently in the process of hardpointing/damage pointing the Galaxy EVO for SFC3, and I've already got a rough idea of the hardpoint layout for the ship, but I want to know about damage points, since I never really worked with them before in my previous bashes.

The way I saw it explained once, the damage points are arranged by firing arc:

A - Forward
B - Forward Starboard
C - Aft Starboard
D - Aft
E - Aft Port
F - Forward Port

That's basically the way it goes.  just place a1, a2, and a3 randomly on the front area of the ship, b1, b2, and b3 on the front starboard and so on...  If you want this model to be used in SFC3, make sure you place the damage points where you want damage textures to show up and they're intersecting the skin of the model.  If they're too deep in the model, the damage textures won't show up in SFC3.

Well that really doesn't matter in my case much cause this ship doesn't have any damage textures.  But in game, when I tested her out, she had plasma leakage from the damage points, so I take it that the placement of the damage points worked nicely.  Now, if someone would answer my question about the 25th hardpoint that I posted several times.
