SFC3 shields and damage points
« on: October 08, 2005, 08:20:03 pm »
I was told there was a way to make SFC3 calculate and size it's ships' shields based on each models damage points and not by the value in defaultcore.txt.  Is this true?  I wanna try that cause I can't get the shields right by calculating the value; the game keeps screwing up the ship's size when it writes out the modesizfile.  Thx,  RaduG

Well, there is the old trial by error method (Going in and out of the game required ;) )

I tried that, the only problem is the shields are defaulted on this sort of oval shape with the longer park always being bow to stern, and not top to bottom like a starbase should have.  Furthermore, if the ship is proportionally wider than it is longer (i.e. Klingon Neghvar), then you really have to boost the ship size for it to encompass everything, and by the time you do, it kind of looks ridiculous.  BUT, in the first version released of SFC3, the game automatically corrected for all this.
