Tracey, I LOVE that new mission!
« on: October 02, 2005, 11:37:02 pm »
Alien Encounter A is bad ass! I have played it twice, won both, the 1st due to luck and the 2nd due to... luck, hehe. They were both a blast. I have yet to run into Alien Encounter B... The mission doesnt come up that much... which is good too. Nice job on that.

On a side note, your new patrols, perfect so far... No drops, no player lefts, and the AI has era specific drones and they work unlike the last batch of missions. So wtg .

I'm glad they're working, especially since they had absolutely no testing at all lol.

I'm still yet to see them on the server myself though

They show every 30 mission choices or so... Perfect for a fun elective mission...

Its actually the patrol missions that I haven't seen at all, which should be appearing more often as they did on AOTK2.

A note about the patrol missions as well, so everyone knows. I restored the missions back to the first ship creation method I was using before we ran into the Goen AI problem on AOTK2. To cut a very long story short, this means AI removal in PVP will now work again, there will be no multiple hosy bug (ie. no dble ftrs, dible weapns etc).. BUT... AI ships will apear out of era (timewarping). However, since I've noticed that nearly every mission on SG5 is also suffering from time warping, this probably doesnt really matter. To fix it, Dizzy has to special out ships that shouldnt be available yet in the shiplist and then update the shiplist every new year. This has to be done both serverside and clientside.

Fer chrissake people if there was time warping still you were supposed to report it last week in testing, not now.  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:  There will not be daily shiplist changes to avoid it. PLease outline the exact timewarps. I have not seen any myself and would like to see proof before we abandon EEK missions because of it.

Decrease their fWait, as long as they share a server with EEK missiosn they must use the same fWait rationale. (nothing I can do about that)

Tracey don't mess with my head like this, are you really seeing timewarping? Do you have the exact ships and missions? Why does nobody else experience it?

This wasn't my idea, Dizzy, it was your idea. You specifically said so yourself in our yahoo messenger conversation. You made the suggestion yourself to use Excel. If you are in doubt, please consult your yahoo messenger history. If you no longer have it, I will provide you of a copy.

Hey Tracey, can you check your shiplist for YFAs and YLAs to confirm whether you are actually seeing timewarping? I know that DieHard and Dizzy have modified the YFAs and such on this list, that may be what you are seeing.

(And we do appreciate everything you do to help a great deal, so stay cool! We loves ya!  :-*)

Until we were testing missions for AOTK2, I wasnt even aware of timewarping issues in EEK missions until DieHard pointed them out to me. Unless you are very familiar with the shiplist, AI ships that are out of era tend to go unnoticed. I have been seeing Heavy War Destroyers that should not be available in 2273 in mission.

I will start writing down the ships and missions for you.

Timewarping occurs as a product of using a particular ship creation method that works well in all other respects except the API "campaign year" parameter is broken, and therefore, it ignores YFA for ships. The telltale sign that this ship creation method is being used, is that AI ships created this way will have era specific drones. You will notice in the stock missions, and many of Dave's missions, that AI ships do not have era specific drones (but some do). All the EEK missions and now mine as well, create ships with era specific drones because they are using this particular ship creation method. I made a rather post some time ago outlining this.

This is not a new problem, in fact, its a very old one. I certainly don;t mean to alarm anyone by pointing this out. Will get you the specifics and we'll take it from there, in the meantime... relax, Bonk, its all good.  :)

Personally, I prefer to have timewarping if it means we have no multiple host bug and we get AI removal in PvP. This is not the deal breaker that it may appear to be.

THAT is why it isnt gonna happen, the specialing out of the client side. That would require a new d/l a day. Something that wont happen on this server...

It may have been my idea, DH and Bonk floated it around 1st, but the part about having it done on the client side is news to me. Never heard that, and thats the killer.

This is true, you may have been unaware of that necessity when you made the suggestion.

Alien encounter actually sems to send me CTD soon ater launch.
As everyone else seems to run it fine I assume it's a model issue I missed,
any chance there's a fixed race it's drawing from so I can figure out what model I'm missing?

Did you use the installer?

If not, ensure you have the latest models: http://www.dynaverse.net/downloads/sfc2_op/Mods/SGO5_DH123_Models.zip

The mission is hardcoded to use only two ships, M-INT and ...hmmm... some other Orion ship, forgotten which one now.

Dizzy swapped out the models for these two ships in the shiplist so they would be Andromedan.

Others have had no problem with the models. I suggest you ck to see if u have these 3x folders and .mods:

C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\DH123\MODELS\INT\INT
C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\DH123\MODELS\COQ\COQ
C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\DH123\MODELS\CBR\CBR

But if you D/Led the final installer you shouldnt have any issues. If you patched your way from beta to the live server, that may explain your problems.
