I tend not to particularly trust PCWorld as when I used to read them they were clearly biased towards their biggest advertisers but the list is interesting anyhow.

I found it interesting that the ONLY Microsoft product that made the list is Windows Media Player 10, which came in at #47. Incidentally, Windows Media Player is the only Microsoft product that I actually like to use.

Aw, that's disappointing. I gave up PC Magazine a long time ago because of that.

I thought PC World was better.

What do you think of Maximum PC?

I gave up PC Magazine and its Ziff-Davis brethren for the same reason. Somewhere around here I think that I still have a copy of PC Magzine issue #2.

Maximum PC still seems to be quite independent and willing to speak their mind with less concern for advertisers. CPU magazine I like as well. Neither is up to the standards of PC Magazine or BYTE! back in their heyday but both are pretty good and better than PC Magazine has been in a very long time.

Did you ever hear how that came about? Quite obnoxious behaviour on the companies part. The former owners however do seem to have acted well about it.

Oh, that's been so long that the trite phrase, "shrouded in the mists of memory" applies.

I do remember to my shock and dismay that there was no longer a print version. This may have shortened its run. Most people, young or old prefer to hold something tangible in their hands.

I still find it less agreeable to read some longer text off the screen. It bothers me.
