Hidden weapons in OP
« on: October 01, 2005, 10:45:36 pm »
I recall a thread on the old Taldren boards about hidden weapons in OP. I know about the TRBL & TRBH, but recall there being a few more. Anyone remember what they were?

What are they and how do I access them ?

In OP you have to open the shiplist.txt with notepad or some other text editor and manually type in "TRBL" or TRBH" in a heavy weapon slot. This is the tractor repulser beam I believe it's caled. I think it was supposed to be an Andromedan weapon, but although the Andromedans never quite made it into the game, their heavy weapon did.

Wow very cool. Almost sounds like the weapon sould be used as a Stasis Field Generator. Are there any other hidden weapons ? I'm gonna post a link to this thread in the Model forum and see if anyone remembers.

i know the TRB is in there, ididnt know that there were the TRBH and TRBL, you can also put fighter weapons on starships, i cannot remember the coding though. There are a few others - DroD, or something like that. Thats all i can think of off-hand.

Drone D
Tractor-Repulsor Beam

Those were the only two 'hidden weapons' mentioned. they are coded as:

DroD
TRB

DroD is a plasma D that has ammo like a drone rack, but has 3x distinct types of damage abilities. U load it like a drone rack picking either type I's or IV's for warheads.

In the early era, it damages one shield facing.
In the mid era it goes straight thru your shields which are not effective at all.
In the late era it damages all your shields like an enveloping plasma.

One or two of these modes the warhead degrades just like a plasma out to its max effective range of 16 at which it does 1 point.

DroD is a very cool weapon... but is quite broken as you can tell.

How is it broken? Maybe the fact that it goes through the shields is a FEATURE, not a bug ;)

Also:

DroE - 40 reloads  :o double rate of fire...  :flame:
DroF - 20 reloads normal rate of fire
ADD30 - but its not done... won't reload, works like a one load ADD6, only one per hardpoint
OptW no UI or implementation - not working at all... too bad...   :(

P.S.: The Tractor-Repulsor beams are TRBL and TRBH (not TRB)

Range and damage tables?  Power requirements?  Miscellaneous info?  Pretty please?

P.S. I intend to use this as part of making a custom ship list for one of my nephews who (falsely) accused me of hacking SFC to make it unbeatable for him.    But since he accused me I am going to make it tough for him.  (Must look for Borg models :) )

I have done some work on the TRBL and TRBH.

Power Costs:
TRBL 2 arm 1 hold

TRBH 3 arm 1.5 hold

Both have a 2 turn arming cycle (power is per turn).  Neither can overload or have short range feedback.   Max range for both is 25.

Very incomplete damage tables so far.

I found someone elses tables:
Code: [Select]
TRBH

Wow this is really cool -

So ... to put any of the hidden back in u need to use Excel or Notepad and enter TRBH or DroE into a hardpoint?  -- how does it show up on the weapons/panel (groups and arcs etc.) these sound like hidden treasure which should make it into a mod, but did someone mention it was already in SG05's shiplist??

Would love to download it if it's somewhere on the drives..

Check out SFB-OP, it has a fully functional Andro shiplist in it. (well. aside from the DisDev and PA panels of course, but there is an EEK mission that works with it to give a simulated disdev...) I didn't use the DroE anywhere in the mod though, only discovered it recently, and I don't recall it from SFB anyway.

Full mod:

Shiplist only (information only, do not try to run without the full mod installed):

SGO5 had some selected Andro ships in the Tigerheart Cartel as I recall...

Should work fine in singleplayer. Just remember to start a new campaign.
