Invasion Servers
« on: September 26, 2005, 08:55:53 am »
OK, so I've actually got ideas for more than just the Civ War servers

I know other people have proposed Andro Invasion & ISC Invasion servers , but since I haven't heard anything I've been toying with other ideas.

Andro Invasion
2285ish-2300ish
-Yes there would be Xtech
-Andros would be a PVP race & score points for killing off specific
galactic heavy metal, as well as "raiding" a few planets
-Andros aren't really SFB Andros- will use the TR beams (although have been told
they're broken?- anyone know for sure?) and massive Labs for shield reinforcement
Galactics would score points from killing Andros (duh) and killing the RTN.
RTN would be represented by a large chain of bases (evil, evil bases)
on a large map. bases would be impossible for anything less than a BCV to
take solo, and likely not even one of those.

ISC Invasion
Guess What
ISC invades

Carnivorons return
-This is just kinda  fun idea I had (no I know nothing about
the carniverons)
Basically a race that uses 'Wolf packs" -tons of PF's (Think Dominion in DS9)
Essentially this would be a Lyran/hydran/Kzin vs the bad guys war.

Border Wars
This is any idea I had for a series (?) of servers set on one border.
Actually probably more like a sector. The map would represent one
(smallish) area of a Border between 2 Empires (likely Klink/Fed)
There would be a fairly strict OOB.
Anything not "line" would have severely regulated numbers
basically
-One Dn
-One BCH
-One CV(D/A?)
2-3 droners
2-3 "small" carriers/tenders
5-6 CWL's

Once one of these ships is lost it's gone.
If a ship takes a certain number of internals it's unavailable for x number of turns
(no more repairing a DN in 30 seconds)

Allied contingents would be available
but would have along the lines of
One BCH
One CV
2 specials
etc
Once an allied loses a ship it's gone, if an allied takes a certain amount of damage
it's removed .

Didn't actually leave a spot for the usual 'STFU" Hexx posts (they always seem to win..)
So if you'd like to mae a comment, ya got to do it below.

All great ideas, not sure what to pick.  Problems.  Carnivorons, models and weapons (aren't they an early years race?).   Andros, models and weapons (PA panels, displacement device, etc).

Front server, very doable, could be very SFB.

I'd vote for front servers for practicality.  Carnivorons, for potential innovation and expansion of our liittle universe.

What about a sublight campaign?

Heh
yeah Carniveron'sa re a bit of an issue, not only are they an early era race, but I'm not oredring the book to get them (Andros will be ordered today)
It's kinda something I've called carniverons (since, technically no one knows wha their tech is like)
really- if you saw the Dominion Wars you've seen what i'm calling the carniverons.
Buncha souped up PF's as their main (and pretty much only ) weapons.

Andros- well Andros(to me) seem to be a bit of an issue. Since we would need the source code
to even approximate them. I just don't feel like waiting that long.  :P
Bascially they're ships have lots and lots of labs (as suggested by someone else)
I've played areound with 2 versions, one using Xweapons to "approximate" the TR beams, and one using the TR beams. The TR beams seem to work, but I know I read somewher that they were broken, so I don't want to get everything setup and the find out after you've fired the thing three times your ship blows up.

So essentially I'd be running a Carnivron server without Carniverons and an Andro server
sans Andromedans.
I think I'd leave the ISC alone though

Actually wa toying with teh ideea of allowing ISC pilot to fly  squadrons to simulate a
(really, really, small) gunline, but am not sure how to balance it.

And yes I'd love to do a sublight era campaign, but I'd have to be able to rewrite all
the weapon code. While I am of course entirely positive that I could do it if i wanted to, I just don't feel like it.Without a different weapon code your still just using slow drones and ph2's.- same as Early.

BTW, it's Carnivon, not Carnivoron.  Just looked it up.

I'd say "Carnimoron" would fit better, at least if Hexx was doing the campaign  ;D

FRAX wars.

Heh, yeah unfortunately I'm not even sure I can still get that book

After ordering C2 and Gurps Romulan , might drop for the Fast Warships or DN's at war as well- I'm going
to be a bit tapped to order anything else for a bit  :P

Anyway looks like ISC is winning, fortunately they're also in R2.
Unfortunately I'm still not entirely sure  how to make the gunline work..

I need an all of the above button, since they all sound fairly cool, at least to me.
