Storms..are they natural or man made >>> Food for thought
« on: September 23, 2005, 06:13:12 am »
Long Read but interesting...... Also I wouldn't be surprised !

A Major in the Corps back in the 70's mentioned this very thing to me then, and I laughed   :o

Scare mongering BS....

So, was it the Muslims, your own government or the Rusckies?   You stupid F.  Your country is in a natural path for these events and they have happened for thousands of years.  Long before your mob moved in.  Stop sounding like GWB with his WAR ON WIND speeches.

Maybe it was the wrath of Allaha (God in the bible) getting you back for robbing oil off the Iraqis?

Or just anther day in the world of weather....

Interesting find, C-Los. I am, however, a bit skeptical regarding the government consporacy theory at creating at a weather weapon, but if this radar anomaly is actually a consistantly obervable artefact of devestating cyclones, then it could be used to predict further hurricane activity in the future. The website claims that the pattern made by the radar reflection must artificial because it looks like a wave. Such an argument is wholly unsupported and the website was sounding good up until this point. His entire argument rests on this one premise.

fairly interesting and it is food for the thought indeed but in my own opinion; i think it falls a little bit too much into the consipracy theories zone  :P

I think with the statements made by the Air Force and Sec of Def that they have been, and are still working on such technology....  So if we are and have been, you know Dam well that other Country's are too, nobody wants to be left behind or not have what the other may have !

What bothers me is they're screwing with "Mother Nature" and we all know "Hell Hath No Fury Like a Women's Scorn" ...... No Offence meant there TG   ;)

Unexplained Radar Waves like that are disturbing ...  :-\

Technology is one thing.  Human ingenuity is one thing.

But the sheer massive, gigantic power of nature is another.

There was a news article related to the hurricanes today, about earlier research on weakening or controlling hurricanes.  Someone suggested nuking them.  And it was realized that even a nuke was "spit in the wind" (sorry) ; a hurricane can be hundreds of miles across.  A small hurricane's power many times dwarfs that of a big nuclear bomb.  One of the people involved suggested it was like using a "pea shooter to move a car".

Remember, you stand on the Earth and it looks flat, essentially, for as far as you can see.  But we know it is round.  THAT is big.  When a wind gathers up over even a miniscule percentage of that surface, some of the biggest things man can make look like specks against it.

I certainly hope our government isn't wasting tax dollars on a "weather weapon"; we don't have the technological scale (yet?) to even make a stand against a large phenomenon as this.

There's no weather weapons except that giant fireball in the sky we call the sun. These storms are on the same cycle as solar activity, about every 10 years or so.

Based on the competency and motivational level of every government employee I have ever met, Id' say it's very unlikely.  It is more likely to rain biscuits than it is for the government to be able to create a storm.  And if they did, they'd screw it up and it would be over-budget.

Perhaps its not so much as creating them as it is "Enhancing and Directing" where they go !

Also, in all my years on this planet I have never seen a storm such as Ophilia dance in and out, and go in circles on the east coast like it did.

Strange....   :o

Hey, any one remember what the military leadership of Japan said after we informed them of our terrible weapon? Any one remember all the rationalization that went into explaining how it was done after we dropped the first one?

Any one thought about how the Japanese continued to rationalised it when we warned them we were going to drop another one if they didn't surrender right then?

Food for thought anyways...

Oh yeah, and what did the Japanese man on the street know during these events?

No offense, but you 9nor any of us) haven't been on earth long enough to witness climate; only weather.

Did you know that in the only other year two Cat-4 storms hit the Gulf Coast (1915) one hit New Orleans and one hit Galveston?

I guess were in a 20-30 yr cycle right now thats going to see increased activity of storms more often and stronger...

Sheesze... We still have 2 months of the season to go     :(

Incidence of hurricanes, tornadoes, lightning strikes, and other climactic weather conditions are predicted to increase with global warming. Apparently, the air pressure and temperature, and sea temperature have to be within certain bounds (I think sea temperature has to be 25C) for these conditions to have a chance of forming. Equatorial zones are particularly prone but recorded weather records are limited, and so long term seasonal variations and cycles may exist that we have no evidence for.

I'm waiting for someone to tie global warming on Mars (recent article that a probe determined the southern icecap is shrinking) with global warming on Earth.

That would sure seem to point to increased solar output as a culprit, which, frankly concerns me far more than the current theory because there isn't a danged thing we can do about it.

Wow.. talk about a massive human effort!

What would we make it of, how big would it have to be, and is there enough of the raw material to manufacture a screen large enough for a planet?  Would the continual ding of meteroids cause it to be in a constantly shredded state?

I have. One storm hit Florida 2 times by looping in and out of the Gulf and Atlantic. It all depends on the high pressure systems in the area at the time. These storms form in the SE Atlantic and the Earth's rotation naturally drifts them into the East Coast/Gulf Coast area. There is nothing "unnatural" about these storms except the anti-gov groups who like to make up stuff or are just plain paranoid.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/HAW2/english/history.shtml#ivan

2004 was an interesting year for hurricanes. And also my statement about them starting in the Atlantic isn't always true. But also note those in the years WAY before weather tech could even be possible.
