Thats a damn nice looking mesh! Keep it up :D

Ok what you are doing is basicly rebuilding the Taldron Yamato BB. The conjectural TOS "Yamamoto" was just a name i coughed up to distingiush it from the Yamato. It is a different class altogether. The Yamato is the original SFB ship, and i based the yamamoto off of it. So no more name confusing lol.

Ugh... This reminds me, I really need to find the disc I had my SFC1 Yamato in (I found it whilst clearing out my HD; my computer's going to go kaput sooner or later and my HD data with it if I don't continue doing so), then figure out what to do with it.  Perhaps I'll upload it to Battleclinic or something, but I wonder where DD is (I'd rather ask permission first if I can).

But you're doing a good job there.  I like the added model detail to the Yamato-class.

For what it is worth...

This is the only reference image I've ever seen for the Yamato.

I remember that picture since 1999 or 2000, seemed like an edit of the conceptual art of KA.  Remember though that you hotlinked that image, so it won't work by linking to it or displaying the image.  So for those who haven't seen it, copy the following onto your browser's URL thingy:

http://www.shipschematics.net/startrek/images/federation/battleship_yamato.jpg

Also, here're my collages of screenshots (that I displayed in this thread) from in-game Klingon Academy:

Yamato Collage 01
Yamato Collage 02
Yamato Collage 03

I haven't heard back from DD concerning how he prefers his mods treated as (in other words, permission stuff I believe to be necessary), so I might not upload any models he ported from KA that I have...

to clear up any further confusion this is the SFC NOT KA model that I base this mesh off of. I was told it was the stock model(which to me means that it came with the game). If I was misinformed then I apologize.

I wish my attempt at remaking the Yamato had gotten this far.  Unfortunately, it's one of the many meshes on my hard drive that will probably never be finished.

I thought it worth noting that the upper roll bar is attached to the secondary hulls as opposed to the saucer.

No it's really attached to the saucer, if you look at CJ's collages from KA they show the original design, that shipschematics 'thing' looks like someones allowed a 5 year old to draw the schematics based off of a very small pic of the KA Yamato and then blurred the resulting image with vaseline, there's another schematic on shipschematics that does a similar thing to my beloved Lexington class. ::)

@ Antivyrus: don't worry about the confusion, the Yamato is the stock BB for both SFC and KA, the SFC model was made by reducing the poly count and texture detail of the KA version. I think you've done a marvelous job recreating the Yamato and hope we'll see it textured soon.

Looking good, no matter what it's based off of. ;D

Check the Permissions thread Chris that should clear up DD stance on his models.

I tried, DD's name isn't on the list.  Patience is a virtue though, and I can wait.  I guess because I tend to just stay around here that I don't know what he's exactly up to and how he's doing in life.  I'd like to think he was the one that got me into Stargate...

Back on-topic, I have a question to Antivyrus: Will the textures that'll be used be modified stock textures, or will they be completely new?

no the stock textures wont be used because they are such low res, but I wish to base the new textures on the stock one at least for this model I have several variants coming that can be textured how ever some one wants to. Which brings me to  the BIG question I'm almost done with the texture templates and because I'm not a very good painter I need to know if anyone out there is willing to do the job?

if no one else will ...

I'll take a look at it.  We'll have to keep up the work on SB777 as well.
