Another Ch. 11 in the making, and possibly another pension plan thrown on U.S. taxpayers. It's good to be a baby boomer!  ;)

I hate to say it, it goes against every free market principle, but for the first 200 years of our capitalistic history, we did just fine with regulated portions of industries considered vital to national interests.

I'm beginning to think that we seriously need to consider re-regulating the airline industry, or portions of it (like maybe regulated routes), and we need to take a long, hard look at petroleum refining.  Every wonder what we can do with a strategic oil reserve that we cannot refine?  I think sometimes that we're getting a little too goofy with the free market concept.

The market may well regulate itself, but it doesn't mitigate the pain between corrections, and frankly, I think it's insane that if the Asians hit us with an electronics embargo ala the 1973 Arab Oil Embargo, we couldn't even build the bombs to punish them for it.

We need a lot of things we are no longer able to produce ourselves.

That was hyperbole Mackie.  The point being, without Chinese electronics, we couldn't fight a war against.. oh.. say.. China...

Yeah.. my brother works for Intel up in Boston.  Funny, they won't let a Chinese engineer anywhere near their manufacturing process...

And do you really think we have ANY signifigant contracts for military products with the chinese? Sure, our procurment system is f*cked up...but not that bad.

The Chinese make electronics for a vibrator or a garage door opener...not a computer.

Yea, but the worst he can do is hit me with his ridged Klingon hemorrhoid donut. And I have you to use as a human shield in that case.

Lenovo, a name you can trust, and it even squeaked by our Congress and Bush to get approval! Thank God the Chinese PACS and lobbyists hold a lot of money, mainly U.S. Treasury IOUs (Debt)! You know what that is, it's that green stuff you get paid with every month or two weeks!  ;D

Why did Bush approve tax breaks for donations to the monkeys on the far side when they got smacked by a Tsunami and none for N.O.? Look inside your P/C and see were those electronic parts are made, bet you find a lot made in Malaysia, anybody find anything made in LA or N.O.? I did not think so...

If free market means that we got to endure people like Paris hilton, the  whole styless hip hop scene and all the people who dont got a clue about cash flow, who sit on their dead money worshiping the capitalistic cult.
Money that is held in vaults is dead money for the rest of the world. Antisocial behaviour at its best.
I am against it.
Now call me commie if you like.

If I lived like Paris and other rich brats, my parents would NEVER give me any money, even after they passed away.

NWA is now delisted from the NYSE. Another airline bites the dust and the American taxpayers are going to pick up the tab. I guess they will learn one day to model themselves after GOL, SWA, and JetBlue.

There are too many Airlines.  One or two more major carriers are going to have to fold before the remainder have enough nerve to actually charge enough to turn a profit.
