SFC 1 scripts for OP.

I have a "how to" question about putting scripts into OP.  I found OP-friendly SFC 1 scripts by Firesoul at www.battleclinic.com . There was no Readme with the files so I'm kind of stumped.   My question is:  how do I insert them into the game so as to be able to play them?  Is it just a matter of unzipping the file to the scripts folder, or something more fiendish? 

Anyone who answers, remember to keep it to the big printing with pretty pictures version.  I'm totally stone-age.

the download is the mission SOURCE CODE...

It's not the same thing as missions, and even further apart from being OP-friendly.

No one actually ever rewrote these missions for SFC2 EAW or OP.

Crud, what a total shame.  The campaign storyline was pretty cool for SFC 1.  I'd been wondering if anyone had done for 1 what had been done for EAW.  Thanks tons for setting me straight.  (Set phasers to blush and raise Ego Shields!)

Nah.  Don't even sweat one drop.  It's natural to assume the three, no, four games are related.  Only the middle two, EAW and OP are.  Unless you were one of those who snatched up SFC1 the year it came out and stuck with us here, at Taldren, and before that at the Simxtreme boards, it wouldn't be easy to figure that out.

Lots of people have asked what you did.  I know I did, in the old boards.  I got the same answers, though in those days, I think some were more hopeful that they could do it until they looked at both games in much more detail.

Keep enjoying SFC1; I think it is a jewel of a game and the one that started it all!  I particularly love playing standalone Fed Hostile Skirmish (a stock mission script, but I take a F-CB with extra marines and max suicide shuttles and scatterpacks up against whatever three Klingon heavy cruisers they throw at me.  On my old computer with Win 98, I toasted them always; now I have really cool rig I made myself, but with Win XP and SFC1 lags, so they mush me into a puddle of plasma.  :'(  ), Surprise Reversed 2, Repair Rendezvous, Lyran Commerce Raid, Convoy Assault, Convoy Attack, Limping Home, Foreign Order, Orion Starbase Assault, When Opportunity Knocks, and a few others.

These missions should still be available on the Starfleet Universe site.  It's a site with great stuff in it.

But they DID make a Surprise Reversed for OP/EAW; it seems a bit scaled back from the SFC1 version, though.

Hey... I remember writing scripts for SFC1... and they were definately a LOT different than writing scripts for SFC2.  If you still have SFC1, I would suggest you just play them with that (sorry).  And just to let you know, my old website is still up and has the SFC1 scripts I wrote on it available for download (about 40 missions, including an Orion Pirates campaign and a Hydran Campaign).

Anyway, sorry I couldn't be more help.

Yes, I second the motion! If I had to pick only one SFC1 script to be ported it would be Repair Rondevous. If I had to pick only one fan script it would be the monster mission named "The Quantum Factor". That was a well written script; investigate the loss of a FDD and a starbase to an energy draining monster... great fun.
