now lemme find the manual and read it...

Crap, there doesnt appear to be a single manual but rather info spread out over a bunch of image rich "friendly" webpages...  ::)

4.2 update for AEBS is buggy when trying to work with older (like 5 year old) wireless cards, so I have to stay with 4.1 since I am trying to run a couple of older wireless cards on the network.

Oh gawd... most normal routers have an embedded webserver for administration that you can use a normal web-browser to access. You have the CD to install this administration app?

This product is billed as "Extremely powerful and easy to set up and use" ... a little too easy methinks...  ::)

I was wondering if it might just be a "dumb hub", but no such luck, the specs page indicates it has a NAT firewall, we need to get to that...

I'll go over that manual when I get back, in the meantime you might want to call Apple tech support and tell them exactly how easy to use this "Airport Extreme" is...  ::)  Why can't they do anything normally? About the only normal thing about Apples is their SCSI connectors, thats about it... they never could get a floppy disk to load right.... grrrr....  :banghead:  Like one complete manual for a device would be nice... and too god damn many useless pretty pictures... where's the information? We want information dammit!

Keep in mind the purpose of this router:
to provide a router that is easy to use and set up for the average user.  It does this very well- while my friend was setting up some other router over hours and days the way he wanted it to be, mine was already up and running, and I was on the internet.  While I have no use for this extreme, I can handle up to 50 comuters on my AEBS, and it has worked flawlessly up to now.  I'll go over to the apple forums and see if anyone knows how I can turn the firewall on and off.  If it's too difficult I won't bother, since I need the firewall for other reasons.

Trouble is tha average user wants to play games that require port forwarding... That pdf had no info on how to disable the firewall or forward ports on the AirPort Extreme... lots of pretty pictures as predicted though... I take a look at some of the other manuals tommorow...

Kurok, you do not need to edit your ini file, you need to turn off your firewall(s).  Hmmm I can ping you though... perhaps you have no firewalls running? Are you behind a router?

my dsl modem is also a router. I have dmz enabled so that isnt the problem. Im thinking it is the NAT on my modem. Unfortunatly im not sure it will let me put in an ip adress that will let me disable it. I usualy run behind zonealarm while surfing the net.I however do turn it off for gaming since it does sometimes cause problems. Now when i set up dmz it is to my intrenal ip correct not my public one? I think i sent you the link the other day to the modem that i have.  I know your on a wickedly slow modem so there is no rush to get this done. I can still play.

Glad to hear you found some help on port forwarding on the Airport Extreme Clark. The D2 is a great motivator for learning about networks. ;)

Kurok, yes DMZ to the local IP of the machine you are playing on, (not the public IP) and check to see if it changes as it is likely DHCP assigned.
