How broken are the G-2 phasers
« on: September 01, 2005, 11:36:09 am »
I just don't remember how over the top they are and was it the 2552 patch that broke them? Thanks.

Duuno if it was the patch, I personally thought it was an extension of the issue that arose when
you put multiple PhG's On ISC Caveats.
I *think* someone said that it was something about the way the damage wasn't being modified
for distance or chances to hit correctly. It has been awhile though and I've killed a few brain cells since then so..

I got gang banged on gsa last week by 2 twits in hydran g-2 boats who stayed at range 20 to 25 while gutting me. (their idea of fun) Among other things, it made me wonder just how wrong these phasers are.

And people wonder why I do private IP games  ;D

Speaking of which, I'll be online tonight.

Had some pretty good fun in the past with the Phaser g2 ships, using the co-op ace script generating a huge ai fleet. Used to be a fair size group of us using the script when GSA was far busier than it is now.

Have to agree with Kurok that they were deemed more OTT before the recent patches.

The G2's are easy to over come in a team game as we [ISC] have no problem with them for the most part, that being said if you let 2 g2 boats stay at range 20-25 all game  than ur asking to be "raped" as the g2's can deliver internals as far out as 40 clicks.Since the 2552 patch the g2's have been toned done conciderably for example, if you look at the early patches the g2's did extreme amounts of damage at long range and most gsa players didn't even allow g2's in their games..

As I noted earlier, this immediatley became a co-ordinated 2 v 1 on the part of the 2 hydrans, who it turned out were on TS together. It was onely a team game for their side as it turned out, so it wasn't a fair case of letting them stay at range. by the time I cornered one, it was easy enough for the other to gut me.

Advanced era is just silly, and G2's are a big reason why.

I don't know about "broken", but they are waaaaaaaay too powerful. As you can see they are practically ECM proof out to 15.

Phaser G2:

NOTE: Damage is per pulse.

G2s were never in SFB. (were they?) So how do we know they are broken?  ;)

SFC series has allways been advertised and promoted as being based on or adapted from SFB.

Yes... in retrospect I should have seen it. I mean, most of us thought the whole Advanced Era thing was just cheese thrown in to get more "twitchfest" minded morons to play the game, right? More sales and profit. Yep... should have seen it coming. Seeing it that way now I must say that SFC3 makes a lot more sense. ;-)

TobinDax... the last time someone brought one of those things to the game I promptly left the game, then his room, then GSA. *shakes head*

me being....well me, I sent a gsa page and then grabbed an email addy and voiced my displeasure, suggesting that that kind of performance wasn't likely to help slow the decline of players available for games on gsa.  :hoppinmad:
