Can we say OUCH? Stupid price controls, and darn those greedy refiners, trying to make a profit.

Hey something has GOT to be done!  We get RAPED by the gas co.s here.  Even on base we are paying $2.58!  Kerist, I have to get my mom to take me to Costco just so I can get $0.05 cheeper gas!  Oh and out side of the bases the gass is anywhere from $0.10 to $0.25 more!  WTF is all that?  You know what they tell us?  It costs more because they have to ship it over . . .  UHHHH OK bite me but why doesn't the middle of the mainland have to pay our prices?  Don't you have to deliver it to them too?   >:( :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

:soap:OH and don't get me started on the freaking numb-nuts out there with their blinged out SUV gas hogs!  WTF do you NEED something like that?  Do you even go off-roading with your "Hummer"?  Gurrrrrrrrrr

Alien, we've been paying $2.49 to 2.65 here in NE...it's not necessarily the cost of shipping..how much is your state taxing gasoline to pad thier pockets?  Heck, even the base here is no lower than the local economy...

Open ANWAR, let offshore drilling happen, more nuke plants, etc.....

2.50 plus in Austin, and usually TX has less expensive gas (One of the benefits of having those huge sprawling refineries nearby). I would say that the refiners are getting theirs while they can. Unless China and India gobble up more oil like they started to do last year this time, the refiners know that it is time for a short dip until the cold weather snap starts appearing.

It's weird how if you pay attention to maritime companies that you can see the India/China effect before it breaks major news. Look at the 4th QTR on some of these companies.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=FRO&t=1y 36 to 64.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=EXM&t=1y 22 to 65.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=GMR&t=1y 28 to almost 50.

Then we have our refiners:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=VLO&t=1y

Not much of a bounce for VLO, but if you notice they had a split in 4th QTR, and splits are great when the company still keeps on soaring.

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=PCO&t=1y

Not much activity there either, except 1st QTR like Valero.

Moral of the story? Look at your shippers first before they get to the producers and you can usually tell when oil or other commodities are going to jump UP.

Our gas in Oklahoma is $2.46 per gallon.   .67 of that is tax.

Before you say, "But Oh the roads would be crappy", that tax does not go to roads, it dumps into the general fund.  Some politicians are tying to get ANOTHER fuel tax of .05 to fix our roads and bridges.  Excuse me?  The first fuel tax is SUPPOSED to fix roads and bridges.

Sorry, when 1/3 of the price of a product is taxes, and the people put up with it, complaining about it being expensive is going to fall on deaf ears.

The rest of us are on a budget, and the cost of fuel is HURTING, but it's not hurting the politicians who have it artificially inflated.  Do you realize gas is taxed higher than luxuries were under the luxury tax?

I saw the story on that about two weeks ago. It's one of the worst things tha this state has ever done.

Hear, hear Dracho! We have a Rick Perry moneymaker toll road almost complete, WTF? Texas has always been wary of those things. Now if it wasn't enough that his family and friends enriched themselves at taxpayer expense (People were buying plots of land before the announcement of where it waqs going to be and increased their investment 10 fold because the land sale is GUARANTEED  >:(), now they want to get on 290 that cuts across Austin east by west on the southern side. I hope to God that it gets voted DOWN, but they play smart, the new highway is not quite operational, so taxpayers have not felt the pinch yet.

Again our tax dollars that SHOULD be used for roads goes into the crapper, or somebody's pockets.

At least in Texas, when the toll road is paid for, the booths come down.  Here in Oklahoma, we built toll roads, and they were to become free when paid for.  But, wait... OOPS!  We "forgot" to fund their maintenance (and fuel tax goes into the general fund), so we'll just have to keep them operating as toll roads.  Sorry...

Well, WHY DO THE TOLL ROADS HAVE SO MANY FREAKIN" POTHOLES THEN?!?!?  Where's the dadburned money going?

If it looks like a turd, and stinks like a turd, you probably don't have to poke it with a stick to figure out the inside is full of crap.

Ummmm, Dracho? I don't think they will take the booths down this time, greed is setting in here in Central TX.  :-[ I'm sure people will try to block the continuance as they are already feeling the big green money weiner enough with gas prices.

Well...you guys just passed that silly law that lets private investors build and operate a toll road.  Those will never be free.

They will learn one day, they will learn.  ;)

Messican highways are toll roads, people use them becaus the free ones SUCK! I get a kick out of hearing Vicky say "This is BS, we pay and STILL get crappy roads." Their version of an interstate highway is a 2 lane P.O.S. that is not even built well, I think they do it on purpose to justify keeping the tolls. You think Americans are greedy? Try going to Messyco.  ;)

They're not on crack; they're on snot.  You know, you wear ProKeds, they get All Star Converse.  You get the All Star Cons, they get Adidas, Puma.  You get Nike, they get the ones that blink with lights, etc.  Well, they're just showing you they still have got better sneakers than you.

Well, bully for them, as my pair of Buicks even drink a heck of a lot less than their pair of SUVs, whatever make.

Gas in Georgia is like 2.57-2.60ish

Funny thing is we have the lowest tax in the southeast, we repealed it years ago. Tenn and Alabama have lower gas prices, but higher taxes.....
