As mentioned in the link, this series started off after the end of The Wrath of Khan and is regarded by some as the best comics produced for the franchise, despite the unfortunate fact that it was de-canonized both by Paramount and by subsequent films.

It was the series that included such events as a war with the Klingons (and a Klingon defecting to the Federation long before Worf was invented) and the near-legendary Mirror Universe saga.  Of course, since it takes place immediately after TWOK, there's no Spock.  I'm interested in seeing if they've overhauled the colors and inks for the trade paperback, which is printed on a higher quality paper than standard newsprint comics, limiting the amount of colors that can be used.
