I did forfeit some missions the other night... after being spawned far away, then mysteriously blowing up while fighting my way back and being sent to initial spawning... wont happen again, didnt realize it bugged it up... If it happens again Ill do as mentioned above. I didnt enjoy it, but I was homesick...  :-X

Albeit that one time, sometimes the game forfiets for you...

... Was just on server talking to Mansix, he had the same drop issue while running a planet assault on 29 5.

Were all these drops on one night or different nights, and did other players remain on?

(I'll check the hex 29,5 for anomalies ehn I do the db clean this morning)

I see no anomalies in the db for hex 29,5.

I suspect it is that small "a" planet assault again? I'll identify it later today and look at pulling a few missions.

db cleaned.

I just looked at the webmap in IE and 29,5 is an Asteroid Base 3 - I suspect that NW assault mission may be allergic to that planet type.

(P.S, ack, the fonts on the webmap look gawdaful in IE, too big, that must be rectified, everone install Firefox 1.5... lol, I'll fix the fonts anyway... and IE seems dreadfully slow compared to Firefox...)

You mean that taking forever for the page to load on the webmap wasn't normal?

I was thinking the database access from the PHP was just too slow...

lol

Nope, its much faster in Firefox, at least to start to render the display. The html output of that php script is rather large though (776Kb for this map) so what you are waiting for is the html to download, the MySQL queries and php script finish in a matter of milliseconds.

edit: and IE probably does not handle compressed output as gracefully as Firefox.

edit2: wow, it really is waaayyy faster in Firefox (all the webmap pages) I never really noticed before, dial-up must exaggerate the effect.

I can't identify which planet assault is the "small a" one from the mission sources (though I should be able to), however, the Met_NW9PlanetaryAssault.scr script lacks a reference to the common definitions file of the scripting API that allows identification of planet types, so I will pull that one as it is likely the offending script. (the other NW planet assault gets planet types correctly)

Is the timewarping tolerable? Or should I pull the EEK missions (decreased mission variety will result). Opinions?

Ah, the dreaded "Hand of Bethke"... alas nothing can be done about it (without the client source code).

If you see/hear it happen, ALT-F4 immediately and you may save your ship. Thankfully this bug is relatively rare.

I credited your account with the replacement value of the BB (16373 PP I think - damn! that's cheap!  :o). Watch out for that bug in future and be quick with your ALT-F4 fingers!

Ahhh, fixed up the fonts and spacing on the webmap pages. Looks much better in IE now.  :)

Now if only IE would display png image files properly... <sigh>
