you know what really grinds my gears.

was eating at one of these "fine sort" restaurants for change earlier today.
sat next to a couple who had bunch of misbehaving kids.

you know, i love kids. no matter how badly they behave, most of the time anyways. but what i HATE are the parents that dont do sh*t when their kids are screaming and fighting from the top of their lungs. 'hush now darlings' isnt enough. a plain old slap on the wrist and STFU should do the trick

didnt say anything directly to the parents though but i think they got the message when i spelt out rather loudly to the waitress that 'what bloody use is it to pay for a seat, expensive food and such when you cant EVEN EAT IN PEACE'

just had to get that out of my system.
thank you for your time ;p

You shouldn't've told the waitress; you should have told the manager.  He can usually apply a little more pressure than the waitress.  What I alternatively do sometimes is just to give them a hard stare, but not for too long and then time your looking back away just as they begin to make eye contact with you (the parents, that is).  Yeah, you're right though; that's always a rotten experience.  :P

Actually, you could tell the waitress:

May I have one of those (point to a kid) in a nice wine sauce.  Guaranteed dirty look from the parent.  :P

you should have tell the parent to control there kids, i have a similar experience the other day at the shoping center, the kids was loose and the send a older kid to take them and the mother was following behind, when i was a kid there was no yelling and runing at the restaurant or any other place, it was stay at the table and be silent, my mom will never let us run and yell anywhere, not inside not out side, some parent should be reminded that its there job to take care of there kids and educate them, not let them run and yell everywhere. :whip:

see, if ive told the parents straight up that they werent doing good enough of a job of keepin the kids in check the reaction would have mostly like been something like this; "OMFG *SCREAM* YOU CRITIKISING OUR LITTEL DARLINGS !!111 YUO MONSTAR!112"
they seemed something like common visitors to the restaurant and with em' being them rich folks i would propably have been kicked out of the restaurant for "disrupting their meal".

sometimes i wonder that what made me a "grumpy old man". sometimes like these give me the answer pretty easily. >:/

other than that i agree with elook and donkarnage.

You could always say something like, "Unless you plan to pay for my meal, please do not let your children ruin it for me".

Hey Mack, we're all grumpy old men.  We have to learn to be nice younger guys again.
