After the past few months of flying:

Make the wild geese pirates! Could the side they belong to be changed on the server every 3 days? This way if they are going to change sides then they will have to make for neutral territory or risk being dealt with by the side they are screwing over.

It wouldnt matter much as the both sides have pirate races. In the Features section, I have the Lyran and Mirak interface setup with pirates. Take a look at the map and you will see they have adequate bases to operate from and adequate economy to support a plentiful shipyard. SG3 and 4 were setup similar in that the Lyr+Klink and Hydran+Mirak share a race which worked very well. In the GFZ server, the pirates were very well sorted and laid out along with the empire races and a similar setup is planned for SG5. The pirates are there for players who like variety. Unlike a cartel slot, these pirates can flip empire hexes and also engine double. It is up to each side's player what race to choose.

Believe me when I say they may not be needed... and if they are, then 3-5 players... out of how many these days, 60-70 players with a max of 25-35 on at a time... wont make that much a difference other than to prevent a blow-out. They will be carefully planned and thought out. There wont be any grey area in their deployment. Everyone will know what it will take to cause these wild geese to flip. Take that to the bank... and to the strategy board.

I assume you are setting up a "wild geese" trip-wire system similar to what is used on Wall Street where if the indices fall a certain amount then trading is halted for an hour and so on. If it's bad enough then the markets are closed.

It would be a novel concept for once if a dynaverse campaign actually has a system that will prevent a numbers imbalance crash that then inevitably leads to a depression like state which then leads to an abandonment of the campaign (ie. 1930s was the only decade in US history where more people emigrated out of the country than immigrated in.).

Mb even give some K and F vanilla ships some technology exchange, have some variants with dizzies and photons. Mb even allow the two to share ftrs. What a carrot.

Awesome, three cool servers all lined up...

I'm back to work on the SQL webmap and OoB interface (Forgot about kill confirmation forms... but can do...perhaps before OoB) with SMF (forums) integration too! I'm protoyping it on The Forge build 38 SQL test server: http://www.dynaverse.net/webmap_op_sql/ <-- will be "in flux" for a while, possible resets on the db as I test stuff out. (and fix up that campaign map a bit...)

With two servers to come before SG5 I should have time to get most of it done, can't say for sure it will all be ready in time, but I hope to have it done by then.

I also need to update the SQL and flatfile webmap with the new terrain types Tracey introduced recently. Tracey and I are discussing additional issues with the serverkit as well, I think we are getting closer to the grail...

Just let me know if a flatfile map is desired for Ecowar or SS3 if they are to be run on Xenocorp servers.

(Plus, I still gotta get a real job and cannot let this get in the way too much...)
