Where is this defiant model?
« on: August 06, 2005, 02:33:05 pm »
Hey everyone I found a top down view of this model recently, problem is I can't find the original to get a better picture, does anyone recognize the model, that they can say and I can get it wherever it is..

might have to paste the link to a new broswer to see it.
i find that the current models made by pneu81 and others, have the forward part where the torpedo launcher sections are too oblongish and curved wide out, if you look closely at this small shot and compare with the tech manual, the curve doesn't go out at such a wide angle...

I wouldn't use any tech manuals or publications for references as most are notoriously inaccurate. It's best to stick to pics of the actual model and screen caps from the episodes.

I don't know anything about that Defiant model but it looks like a stock ship from one of the games, though it's a very small pic. If you want a Defiant that's based on the original studio model, I (of course) suggest mine:

Not that I'm being immodest or anything...

thanks wicked, I am making a free multiplayer trek 2d combat game, in the vain of subspace but of course much better.
I know you've probably heard this before and are quite tired of people starting finishing projects, well you'll be interested in mine because I plan to finish it :)

But they all say that! Well unlike the rest, I Have no website, no forum, no news, no community anxiously awaiting the next alpha which boasts a new ship as a new feature... I mean.. a ship flying in space cannot be a feature of a space game, its expected.

Plus this way no one gets disappointed if I don't finish it, because no one knows it exists, no screenshots of nice alphas to pump everyone up and promises of countless complicated features, and the you will be able to do this and that...
sound fair?

Anyway I said all this to say, I am making a free game, based on licensed property albeit... I am using all star trek sounds found in the games, and my time and money ( dev tools, graphic tools) has gone into it... but so as not to offend anyone... could I have permission to use top down pictures of your models in the game, and any model that isn't yours could you ask the relevant people for me, or at least make them aware of what I am doing, I currently use them in my alpha but since only I will ever have it, that can't offend anyone...

Your defiant model is excellent however the color is bland in that picture is it different in game? I'd like one which has a greyish scheme like the 9 of 9 defiant model in BC.

thanks.

If you are looking for a flashier defiant, P81 made one that has nice bright blue trim.  Check battleclinics for it, it should be there.
