Kitbash idea: Oberth Tug

 ;D

I saw this pic and thought that Atrahasis' Monarch Pusher Tug container if married to any Oberth would make an interesting tug:

Hmmm.......very interesting.  :-D
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

Definately a great possibility for extending the life of an aging design. NIce catch KF

If I can get some time, I'd love to play with this idea... between work and home commitments though I've only had about 5 hours a day at home where I've not been on something (and that's been sleep time).

I managed to actually get an hour on my computer yesterday and used the time to update my TARDIS a bit to make it more like the current BBC version.  :)

But this tug idea is a sweet little design.  :)
..ooOOoo..totally useless information..ooOOoo..

this is the Fisher class Container TUG, another design from Jackill's SF Ref Manuals, made one in my first Star Trek modelling days

I once tried to make the Oberth into a tug, but I wanted to do it leaving it those rather questionable struts...  ;)  This sure as hell looks better than anything I could come up with, though...  :D

Honestly, i like to think of it as the Oberth is normally without ANY pod, its just so far we've seen it only as a science ship, and thus only has been with the science pod.

I mean, whats to stop it from having a weapons pod, for example.

there are some such Oberth based designs in Jackill's SF. Ref. Manuals, i made some for ST Armada, the Todega is not finished and there ist still the Angueira class hospital ship to make

The fact that, based on Trek III, it blows up if a Klingon gunner even sneezes in its general direction?  :D

supposedly the reactor is housed in that pod, and it's a mainly automated engeneering system. Without the pod it would have no warpcore, technicly speaking.
