P81's FDN
« on: July 24, 2005, 11:58:43 am »
Hi guys. Some time ago, P81 (I think) made a really good Federation class DN. In the "Ships of the Starfleet" manauls, there is a command cruiser called the U.S.S Balson. As you can see, the 2 look alike, except for the 3rd warp nacelle. I have tried my best to remove that 3rd nacelle, using MfcSfcEd.exe, but to no avail. It works on removing sections on some ships, but not all. I can remove the nacelle, but it you zoom away from the ship, it reappears, if that makes any sensce. Would someone be willing to remove that 3rd nacelle for me, and then maybe post the finished product for everyone to use? i'm happy to send a zip file of the DN.

Open the file and press the ']' key, the first time it will change to the LOD2 mesh, remove the third nacelle from that mesh, then press the ']' key again and it will sho the LOD3 mesh; again, delete the third nacelle, now save the mesh and look at the model in MODViewer, you will notice when you change to the 2nd and 3rd LODs that the third nacelle is now gone, that should solve your problem. Save often while doing the work though as M6 tends to crash occasionally when working with the lower detail LODs.
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then the deepest spy cannot discern it, nor the wise make plans against it.

Glad to be of assistance dude, I've been using M6 for so long I think I've stretched it about as far as it can go, you can accomplish quite a lot with that program, I just wish the guy who made it were still developing it, things like the ability to add new textures to a mesh or finer movement of parts would really improve it a lot. As it is it's nice not to have to worry about converting from other files when you only want to make a kitbash.
