Young Eagles (image heavy)
« on: July 30, 2005, 10:32:01 pm »
I volunteered my Saturday to help out with the the Young Eagles program at the "fly-in" at the local airfield today.  Warmed my heart to see the smiles on the thrilled young faces. There was a first today too - MOOSE ON THE FIELD!!!  :o (see attached image #09 - and that's the "control tower" in image #05  ;D)  It was a blast, heading back to help out tomorrow too.

Moose in the field...reminds me of my days stationed at Wurtsmith AFB...the runway crew would clear the runway of deer before the B-52's would take off...

Great deal Bonk..it is always fun to pass down knowledge and abilities...

Hoi Bonk,

It was a joy to see the pictures," ...down on the farm, back amoung the family, away from Ontario, here the ladies singing to the men, dancing with them heel and toe, and watching the apples grow... "Stan Rogers

If you get a hold of the photos of Cape Split, I would love to have a set. I was actually looking at "valley" last night

Is there a local RC model group? I'm shore my dad could put together a starter kit. He would have to drive right by you when he visits his granddaughter.

Take care

Nope, I was involved because my dad has a Cessna 150 he keeps at that airfield for recreation. Those are Canadian Air Cadets uniforms you see there. They did a great job of helping out providing ground safety for the Young Eagles event we ran - great kids. Hopefully a few of the Young Eagles will be interested in joining the Air Cadets. (more images attached - the "Candy Drop" was a hoot! Just look at those smiles, priceless...)

What's the Civil Air Patrol all about? Sounds interesting.

(Thanks for the shot of the cove drb... takes me back!  ;D  Unfortunately, I don't have any of the cape split pics with me. I attached two nature shots from the back cross strip I took yesterday for ya though...  And nope, no RC stuff there but a lot of the guys have "real men fly home-builts" stickers on their planes... ;D most of which aren't a lot bigger than some of the RC craft yer dad has built)

Canadian Air Cadets are just CAP cadets from Canada, I think. We have units all over, 52 "Wings" for the 50 states, Puerto Rico and DC, plus a special section for overseas units. Theres one in Okinawa, London, Munich, and a few other places.

I could be dead wrong, too. Who knows.
