How old is your lawn mower?
« on: July 27, 2005, 08:25:50 pm »
I just watched my father mow the lawn today with a 1949 Harry Ferguson TE-A 20! I was amazed when it ran twenty years ago, even more amazed that it still runs... though he did put a new electric starter on it after he broke his hand on the hand crank starter once... I guess the carburetor on it is worth more than the whole tractor now as its not is very good shape overall and there are some collectors.

I have an olod 1920's model Ford Tractor, and I've been offered about 2K for It. I'm very tempted to take the ole boy up on the offer, For nothing else, then He has a local tractor store.

I'll try and get some pics of my other two Tractors for you guys. They are both antiques, to say the least.

mine's a 25 year old Ranch King that my dad bought and put together himself.

Still runs great when it's warm.
I was never here, you were never here, this conversation never took place, and you most certainly did not see me.

and after checking on the names our third tractor we sometimes use is "Fordson Super Major (a.k.a. Ford 5000 in America)".
I have no idea of what the models of the 2 newer Valmets we got are since they have bad habit of all looking the same.
no idea on the lawnmover whatsoever because its a frankenstein built from several different mowers, all i know is that is a manual one and most of the parts are from 70s and 80s and the engine is from a 60s tunturi "geezer" moped (puchi engine if i recall). works well enough :p

Correct, it is a tractor - but this one sure ain't purty or clean... about all the old man uses it for now is to cut the lawn (~2.5 acres) so I called it a lawnmower... once and a while he'll haul out the brush cutter and clear some paths through the brush down to the stream or along the fence that borders the neighbor's property. The neighbor is currently cutting hay from the front 25-30 acres since we're not using it. I think dad's rakes and baler are pretty much rusted out and seized up now anyway, they're buried in brush. The tractor sure has seen better days, it sounds a bit like a Harley now, I think shes only running on two cylinders, though dad maintains all of em still fire on a good day (see attached).
