OT : A discovery about Kronos I from ST VI
« on: July 29, 2005, 06:29:20 pm »
Hiya folks, I was watching ST VI the other day and I'm sure someone else must have noticed, but I've never seen it on any of the models. During the rendesvouz scene the front ventral area of Kronos I is visible 2x on screen for a number of seconds. When I zoomed in on this area I discovered a rectangular protrusion on the Left side ( right side on screen as the ship approaches) prior to the nacelle struts. It's angled forward and to the left. It is rather large ( which made me zoom it in the first place) But I didn't see it on the right side of the ship (left on screen) It doesn't mean it isn't there, I just couldn't located on screen. Does anyone have a clue as to what this "protrusion(s)" may be ?

Well, I knew we'd have to have this talk someday.  But I guess I was hoping the day would never come.

Curious... Could it be the armature attachment on the filming model by any chance? Ill break out my copy tomorrow to have a look.

Seriously though, anyone that has a copy of ST VI please take a look at what I'm talking about and let us know what your opinion is.

I'm assuming you mean the box on the forward ventral side, before the wings start. That section only appears on the right side because the left is usually in shadow, but there's an identical box on that side too.

It was one of the many additions/changes they made to the original K'tinga. They also added greebles to the forward wing 'grilles', changed the bridge module, the color scheme obviously is different, the nacelles have a green glow and different details, and there's the gold hull decorations. Not to mention a few other not so obvious changes.

They may not necessarily be for no purpose.  They could  be weapons, Sensor pallets, tractor beams, just about anything.  My guess would be weapons.

Maybe they're poop shoots.  :-D  I mean, Klingons need to take dumps too, am I right?
