Time Flies..Wait no it doesn't..
« on: July 27, 2005, 04:15:03 pm »
Missed a day or two on AOTK2 and haven't been paying much attention.
When (Dear God let it be soon) is it going to be 2268?
This weekend or next week?

<grr> OK so the game started in 63,Saturday @4pm, so Sunday @ 4 pm it would be, no wait that will make it difficult,
Uhmm Monday at..no that doesn't wotk either, letsee,
let x=the number of years, so x=36, no that's not right
uhmm what if x=
Ok so 2 game years would take 72 "real" hours , which would be @3 "real?" days.
So One day would be Sunday, two Monday, three Tuesday.
So 2 years should have taken us to Tuesday @4pm
so it was 65 Tuesday, I want to get to 68 though
so thats 3x36 or 108 "real" hours from Tuesday so, uhmm 108/24 is
like 4.5 (ish) so 4.5 days from Tuesday is, W/Th/F/Sat + half a day, form 4pm so 4AMisah on Sunday

So Sunday at 4Am I should (finally) be able to get a CWLPp

Assuming DH actually isn't trying to screw the Lyrans over by using incorrect FYA's

Enjoy your time children
As of 4AM (ish) (Actually I won't be up until 11) you have free reign
After that Hexx is taking on any and all challengers to demonstrate in
three easy steps why you're useless in PVP.

Canadia is the proper spelling for a country where the people call themselves "Canadians". If the country's name was spelled "Canada," then the people there would call themselves "Canadans." Since they call themselves "Canadians", it's only reasonable to spell the name of their country "Canadia." After all, people from Germany don't call themselves "Germanians" do they?  ;D

"A United States of American?"

They don't teach grammar up there either, do they?

How about 'AN United States Of American'?   :P

"A United ..." is grammatically correct, e.g. "they presented a united front"

You apparently don't have any Brit friends. Ask a Brit about that. He or shee will tell you "An united front" is actually correct. Along with "an hour", "an honor", and "an hotel". :P

Mog is correct.

The modification of the indefinite article 'a' to 'an' became a part of english grammar when the word follwing it began with a vowel phoneme.

eg. "He has an ulcer in his stomach" is grammattically correct.

Some vowel like phonemes optionally have this modification, but both forms are accepted in different parts of the world.

eg. "This scenario is an historically correct one", "This scenario is a historically correct one" are both correct. I prefer the latter myself.

"This is an house belonging to Jack" is not correct. Nor is "They fought hard for an united decelaration of independance".

The word "united" does not begin with a vowel phoneme but is prounouced "yoo-nyt-ed".

Try saying it out aloud and see which flows better.

Hour, honour and hotel all begin with vowel phonemes. United does not.
