Serkit fails to find the directory servers
« on: July 22, 2005, 10:51:16 am »
Anyone know if you D/L the serverkit that as is w/o changing anything, will it startup and host a test server? Mine fails to find the directory servers. Makes me wonder if my serverssetup.gf is correct.

Yes, my firewall was turned off. Ideas?

I haven't done this in about a year, but I think you need to change the IP address for the directory servers cuz taldren is out of business.

Did you get the directory server update kit?

Edit the server addresses in the serverssetup.gf in the serverkit to match those in the updated client gf (forget client gf file name - no op install in front of me...)

Hmmm, odd. No firewall eh? Server addresses in... what's left?

Can he ping the directory server box?

I've used this one:

[CentralSwitchSetup]
Listen = 1
CentralSwitchPort = 27100
CentralSwitchAddress = "thor.xenocorp.net"

[WONDirectoryServer]
ServerPath = "/StarFleetCommand2/Game/Release"
//ServerPath = "/StarFleetCommand2/Game/Beta"
//ServerPath = "/StarFleetCommand2/Game/Dev"

[WONDirectoryServer/Addresses]
0="client.sfc.dynaverse.net:15101"
1="client.dynaverse.net:15101"
2="sfc2.directory.stasis.ca:15101"

And this one:

[CentralSwitchSetup]
Listen = 1
CentralSwitchPort = 27100

[WONDirectoryServer]
ServerPath = "/StarFleetCommand2/Game/Release"
//ServerPath = "/StarFleetCommand2/Game/Beta"
//ServerPath = "/StarFleetCommand2/Game/Dev"

[WONDirectoryServer/Addresses]
0="sfc2.west.won.net:15101"
1="sfc2.central.won.net:15101"
2="sfc2.east.won.net:15101"

Ask some Admin. what firewall ports you need open to run the server kit. I know there are some additional ones to the standard OP client S/W port list.

Are you running it on thor? If not, use the first one without the centralswitch address line (only for thor - or substitute your servers hostname) The second one you posted is using the obsolete won addresses.

And can you ping client.sfc.dynaverse.net ?

Build 37 should connect as is... http://www.dynaverse.net/downloads/sfc2_op/server_kits/Beta/SFCOPServer2552_B37.zip

P.S. dynaverse servers run on thor will start and connect to the directory server but are not listed last I checked... hope to resolve that soon...

B37?

I see mine on the list. Somehow I figured it out I guess. Are you able to get on TS Bonk, sometime?

I'm on 14400 bps dialup at the moment  (that's 1/4 the speed of 56K!!!),  ??? I got teamspeak loaded last night, I'll give it another try tonight.

AHA! Bing! IF someone else is using thor's hostname in their centralswitchaddress line, that could/would explain why servers on thor will not appear in the list currently... (hmmm, that would be an evil way to "shutdown" someone else's server...  don't pass it on...)

I have a whacky Idea . . .

I THINK my connection at home works now.

If it does, I'll make a profil on my server and let Dizzy use it while the main testing wil still take place on THOR.

I should be home in an hour.
