the only real problem that i have seen  is the fact that i cant seem to get a gorn to show up in any of the new missions as klingon or rom. every thing else seems ok except for maybe all those D7T in the yard.

With Kroma as the exception, we don't like to cross dress.

When I got roped into RM'ing, they told me it was going to start on the 23rd, so it was released some where.

Start TOMORROW. Seriously. And let us pick up the players along the way. I mean... for a long ass 4 week server (too long imo)... there is plenty of time to get the ball rolling.

And for the tomorrow start, who was the brilliant server admin who hosted OP servers where only Tuesdays you could change DV's? We could set that up so you cant change the DV's till Saturday.

That'd be great...

Just letting people know, my holidays finish this week, I am back at uni next week. Was hoping the server would start and we'd get all the bugs out by the 23rd. The first few weeks of semester are usually fairly light on, however I will still have classes and will still be around, just not quite as much. Having said that though, if its not ready to go then we should hold off, although as far as I can see, its 95% ready. The next recompile of the missions should fix up the remaining mission issues (assuming we dont find anymore) which I'm doing today.

DH, if you're ready, light this candle. It may be an inconvenience to some, but for the rest of us, I'd say we've gone too long without a server.

Let's get this show on the road....

I agree with a priest...?  :o

But, on the other hand, the problems with the missions aren't all ironed out yet, that could create huge headaches for all the admin, players and especially the RMs!  8)
We all seen what happens when you get impatient, lauch a server "as is" and then players start bitching by the dozen about "this ship is broke" that mission doesn't work right", etc, etc, etc.
If Tracey can get the missions fixed with her new patch or whatever, then, we can start on the 23rd, NP. But, if there are STILL bugs, we need to squash them first, or the whole community will suffer the consequenses and another campaign could fall flat because of something that could have been fixed, but we didn't want to wait... ;)
Been there, done that, it sucked...
When we launch is all about the same to me, I'm ready anytime...but, let's wait if we HAVE to in order to get a smoother, more enjoyable campaign for everyone, heh?  ;D

I fully agree with that, LK. If we are ready for launch on Saturday, sure. Let's go for it. But let's not rush things if there are bugs to be fixed to keep people from being totally turned off from Dynaverse play.

If its not hosted on your equipment shouldn't really matter if we start the 30th.

Unless you are volunteering to handle the last minute technical shake out issues and inevitable first week tech glitches then it most certianly does matter that DH has a stable connection the first week of the server.

Chuut you seem to give the impession that servers just majically configure and run themselves.

I was just concerned about DH hosting the server on shaky equipment whether it be the first second third or fourth week of the server preferring to wait until he was stabilized.  I took his meaning of shaky to mean with intermittent interruptions but basically allowing for him to be on at least a considerable part of the day, thus being able to manage major problems without too much delay.  This wouldn't be ideal but would be managable perhaps, the server constantly burping and/or being down and reset would not be.  Sorry if I gave the impression that Die Hard didn't provide invaluable aspects of server maintenance, but it was just that I didn't see a "shaky" conection as preventing him from handling these issues without extensive delays.  Hope that clarifies things and puts any thoughts of my not appreciating Die Hard's efforts to rest.

TG has to go to school next week so our window of bug fixing is pretty much over.   If we find a critical bug in the missions, we can patch while running.

IMPORTANT.   we will be doing a 2263 test tonight.  I know the ships are painful, but we need to see if the setting work right in this era
