Installing/making new ships
« on: January 22, 2003, 08:54:03 pm »
Hey hi all
I would like to know how to install some new ship classes?
That probably means mod ships and just other st class ships that people have modeled and then installed into there own sfc3.
I was told about removing the NS letters from within the defaultloadout.txt file, which I did and I think, though I am not sure, that it introduced some different variants other than the ones already in the game.
My install is stock apart from the deleted letters NS in that file.
Anyone know were I can get a comprehensive guide to installing ships/mods into my game?
And also any good url's were mods/ships are located for dl would be very welcome thanks.
Regards
Hyperion

ps--also does someone have a link to were I can get my hands on the Modeling tools?
I want to have a go at creating my own ship models and then  putting them into the game. I heard some tools had just been released which you can use to create models and then place them into an install of the game.

Hello,
I just found this website this month   Battleclinic.com.  I found many, many ships to download, but I am a lame brain when it comes to computers, so I am still trying to figure my own out, but  battleclinic.com might help you more!!!

This is the site you want for SFC3
http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/
You can download patches (please do this!), ships, tools, and tutorials here.
Here's a link to the SFC3 modeling tools (can be used for all SFC games)
http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/Model_Tools;7945
Here's a link to greenvalv's guide to customizing SFC3
http://starfleetcommand3.filefront.com/file/A_Guide_to_Customizing_Starfleet_Command_III;40632
If you have any questions about adding ships or working with models, please don't hesitate to ask in the modeling forum here.  Those of us that hang around there would be glad to help you get the most out of your game and help develop your skills as a modder.

Glad to hear my post wasn't a waste of time :).  You can ask all the questions you want in the modeling forums and I'm positive they will all be answered.  I don't know much about adding ships to EAW since I've never done it before, but There are plenty of people who know the process so well they can add a whole fleet in their sleep.
