looking for a stock model of
« on: July 09, 2005, 07:32:16 am »
the Armada ...

I'm looking for one to be able to a quick retexture of the model for a "medical"  or special "hospital" version of the ship per Sochins request (in another thread) honoring our friends in the UK.

(here's a copy of the request)
---------------------
Ok idea time,

Request to the community. To mark all the events that have taken the lives of the innocent can we have a new vessel made.

Hospital Ship
ERA your choice
Vessel Class name - HOPE
First vessels - TRADER
                   BRITANIA

-------------------

I do have a couple of ideas.  The stock version is easier to re-texture than the GAW version I have loaded in my system right now  ( and its pretty awsome ) .   I'm having a bit of trouble with it ...  But mostly due to time being the essence of the matter.  (And I really don't want to loose the GAW I have loaded.  It takes an eternity to get another copy loaded as I am still stuck in the phone-age.)

If some one could either post a link for a stock Model of the Armada .. or zip it up and send it to me ...  that would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

What does thne Armada look like?

Can't model but can Retexture.
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

I should... textures for this one would be different than the stock ones because of the closeness of the nacelles... it'd cast an entirely different red glow on the saucer.

The originals should be on my wife's machine somewhere... :)

I have started on this one.  Currently I am doing this without the colored glow reflections on th hull.  It's going to take a while ( I still work an average of 60 hrs a week ).  BTW...  that is one of the reasons I ask for some to the help in research.  I know you younger fellows are pretty darn sharp .. and know where a lot of this stuff already is.  Sometimes researching things ..  and knowing where to find the best solution can save a lot of time.

Thanks guys for helping.

OH ..  if everyone decides to use your model atheorhaven ...  I may not finish working on this one.  (We'll see).  The main thing is to have a really good representation for Sochins idea.  That after all is the main thrust of all of this.

Thanks again for everything!

Personally, I hope that people use the Britannia I did, and the TOS one I'm going to do, and yours, and however else makes ships for this project.  I hope that we get 40 ships or more out of this.. the point, I thought, was to try and show some support for London and her people right now.

Almost have it done with new glow areas and correctedcolours for the hull. Once I finish Blanking the Saucer (just the top front to do still), tomorrow, I will post Pics and Send it your way to complete the way you like Ol'Buzzard. If this is a ship you want otherwise I will stop now.

That would be cool ...

I've been trying to redo some of the textures myself as well.  (Good experience for a beginner.  I've learned a new trick for Aztecs, making them look a bit more 3-D so to speak.  If nothing else it has been an interesting learing experience.)

Something has crossed my mind while doing this as well ..   Should that weapons pod under the saucer be left on the model?  Right now I'm re-texturing and trying to make it appear as something more like a sensor device or some sort.  Yeah ..  I have to admit that may be a long shot too !  The larger pod on the top of the ship  is being converted and the weapons removed already.

I'll try to post a couple of WIP's later on in a separate thread by Weds

Thanks for all of the special efforts.

Maybe you could make the weapons pod under the saucer into some sort of advanced transporter array.  Since it is a hospital ship, you would want above average transporter capabilities so you could get large numbers of wounded on board faster.

Simple,
Remove the cannon from the front and put a shuttle bay there

Hmmmm ....

interesting idea ...

Since I can't personally remove that "long barrelled" pod ...  it's kinda of a toss up .  Perhaps a combined specialized sensor and transporter array of a sort.

Now then .....

What characteristics (if any) would be used to illustrated that ?

I'm not exactly sure.  Can you alter the model any, or are you just working with the textures?

I'm looking at the TNG Technical Manual right now, and it has the transporter emitter for the Galaxy located on the underside of the saucer, just between the top of the neck and the edge where the rest of the saucer separates.  Here's a screenshot of it on one of the Galaxy models (I'm not sure who made this one)

That's cool ..   let me see what I can come up with.  Once we are done with it if some one wants to remodel it without the "pod"  that would be up to them...

Meantime I'm still at work ..

OY !  These 11 and 12 hour days are a drag !

When Hotmail starts sucking, I just start using my yahoo account.  I get too much useful stuff through my hotmail and too much spam through my yahoo to completely switch, though.
