Help needed... can someone with max convert...
« on: July 21, 2005, 02:57:15 pm »
Hey peeps I'm needing some kind soul to convert Khalibans Constitituion model from mod to a .3ds or wavefront .obj for me. Its for private use. I only have the use of Milshape and unfortunately it cant handle the polyload to import the model straight from .mod. Any help would be very welcomed :)

Thanks.

I found a work around...... go to the Milkshape folder and open the maxpayne skeleton, then go import a MOD file...... you'll see a bunch of messages, just ignore them......

Could you explain further for me? I am away from my pc at the moment and therefore my copy of milkshape, but do you mean actually go to the milkshape folder not with milkshape running? open the maxpayne skeleton (in or out of milkshape?) then open milkshape and import a .mod?

Sorry like I said I'm unsure as to your instructions as I dont have milkshape to play with lol. But thank you if I can work this I will actually want your babies...  ;)

Detailed......

Open Milkshape, from inside open the maxpayneskeleton.ms3d from the Milkshape v0.0.0 folder, next import the MOD file.  You'll see a bunch of error messages, just ignore them.  Once the model is loaded the program is unstable, you will not be able to go to Materials or undo any actions.... basically I just use Milkshape to move HP's around (Easier than usin' CV), so I've never altered the textures on models.....

Oh I see. What if you were to, straight away, save the model as a milkshape object and shut her down... Surely upon next start up you will be able to load the newly saved large poly milkshape object and have full functionality... you tried that? Also does this work with BC .nif files? I'd try it myself if for the fact I'm 300 miles from my copy lol.

I can't seem to get this trick of yours to work :(. I open the maxpayne keleton inside milkshape, then try import the mod I want and the same things happen as they do when you do it regulary... ie critical error and needs to be closed. Any more help or info/suggestions are welcome. lol.

Bah, it's a crazy way to open models, I know...... got 3ds max 5, so I won't be messing with Milkshape much anymore..... hopefully in a few months I'll come out with my own models. ;D
