Things you should NEVER do with your laptop
« on: July 02, 2005, 11:40:35 am »
SO I'm eating dinner yesterday with my parents, sister, brother and nieces when I look over at the kitchen table (which has been incapable of putting food on for years since my parents feel it makes a better workbench/computer desk) and I look at my dad's shiny new ibook.  What is wrong with this you might ask?  My dad's messy (and i do mean messy) dinner plate is sitting right on the open laptop.   :smackhead:

But tell me, can you heal what father's done?
Or fix this hole in a mother's son?
Can you heal the broken worlds within?
Can you strip away so we may start again?
Tell me, can you heal what father's done?
Or cut this rope and let us run?
Just when all seems fine, and I'm pain free, you jab another pin,
Jab another pin in me

I'm not an Apple fan by any stretch of the imagination, but that's an injustice that no working computer should have to suffer.

The point was it was a laptop.  I'm sure he would have done the same to his compaq laptop.

I understand that he would've done it to any laptop.  I was just stating that, even though I don't like Macs, I wouldn't want to see one ruined like that.

Oh, I know, I just wanted to point out that his behavior is not limited to macs.

Technologically challenged folks always mistake a laptop for a heating plate.

I'd be lying if I said I never had food or drink on the same desk as the computer, but I keep them asside from the computer, never actually on the computer.

Same here, and, unlike my parents, I actually clean my monitor if I happen to accidently get bits of food or liquid on it.  I usually end up cleaning their monitor too whenever I stay with them.  I also end up electronically cleaning out their computer too because it's usually slower than a retarded slug on salt-covered crutches when I get there.

a coaster is something you put your glass on so you don't leave a ring of liquid on the table.
