Anyone playing Battlefield 2
« on: June 23, 2005, 09:26:43 pm »
I've been playing it on and off today and it looks like a very cool game.  Just wondering if anyone else picked it up.  Oh BTW if you plan to buy it soon make sure you get the DVD version, it installs a lot faster then trying to install 5 CD's.   ;D

It won't even load on my Inspiron 8500...very pissed, as I was looking forward to giving it a shot.  Instead I picked up Guild Wars and am enjoying it very much.

I know the feeling... dl'd it twice from different sources.  Installed, did the mic check, but no joy in Muddville.... the game launches into a black screen then CTD's every time.

From what I have seen I will be sticking with Joint Operations.

Yep my friend has the same problem, neither his processor nor video card can handle the load.  The other problem it has is trying to log on through Gamespy, the game seems to hang trying to connect to Gamespy's servers.  Other than that this game has been a huge amount of fun and the graphics are worth the high system requirements IMHO.  Too bad more of you aren’t into this game, I would love to see a bunch of us Dyna-people invade a server.   ;D

Having spent the weekend playing... YEP its a winner!
Figured out there is even a career path sorta thingy if you play ranked servers... get to be a good enough assault troop (or whichever) and you unlock upgraded weapons to use. Haven't got that far yet, still a private with about 5/6ths of the way to go to get PFC, but I did get an armored crewman badge, whatever that does for me. (I spend a lot of time in LAV-25 type vehicles).
Heh, you haven't seen NAP of the earth flying until you get into a blackhawk with Knob piloting... what a hoot!
There is a command structure, you can join a squad, be a squad leader or even force commander (you get to play with the artillery in that one).
Between this and Guild Wars... bye bye social life!
