I need some help...
« on: June 16, 2005, 01:00:05 pm »
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in, but since it has to do with a model, it seems like the logical choice.  I was wondering if anybody here could convert a model from SFC3 to Star Trek: Armada II.  I don't have the software or skills necessary to do it myself.

Don't have the software to help you right now either, but I know there are a few here that can do it.

What model are you talking about anyways?
Do you also know that most of the models here tend to be in the higher poly count and Armada can not handle some of these models, like Khalibans' FCA
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

I have the software, but I'm in the middle of a few other projects now and I've never converted a ship to Armada II or added ships to Armada II.  In fact, I haven't even played Armada II in at least two years, maybe even onger.  Anyway, I would love to help, but I'm really too busy with other stuff to learn how to convert ships to be used in Armada.  If you still need help once I've finished what I'm working on, I might be able to help you.

The model in question would be the SNS Galaxy from Bridge Commander, converted to SFC3 by manitoba1073.

I don't think that would be possible due to the high-poly count, Spadaro.  I could be wrong, having not played Armada 1 or 2, but with the talk of how high-poly models aren't possible... *shrug*

depends on the poly count. Don't discount armada. I had maggots 6500 poly dominion BB in A1 back when I had an 8 meg vid card. Yea, it froze for a few seconds when it popped out of a shipyard or blew up but there was not a single dominion BB that looked better. Most I ever put on screen was 2 or 3, but considering that cards are now running mainly 64 meg or better and processors have trippled or better since then I doubt the sns galaxy will be an issue. I'd be interested in seeing a strait up port of the sns gal, CG sov, queballs prem and that maggot BB I lost long ago, all for A1. I'd throw the works in the old MP 1.9se mod. See just what A1 can handle.

Hey, if someone had 3d Max plugins to export to A2, someone send me a link. I've been wanting to do that for some time. I have Max 4 btw incase it makes a difference.

I'm not absolutely positive that this is for 3ds max 4, but here's the link to get it at a2files.

I've never used it because I've never made or converted any ships for Armada or Armada II, so I can't tell you how well it works.

i make models for A2 and made some for A1 and the problem is that A1 could handle some more high poly models than A2 can but A2 has the better graphics and A1 just looks ugly compared to A2

for conversions to Armada you should always ask Major Payne ( but be warned he thinks in some way he is the only high justice in Armada community )

I wouldn't be using the SNS Galaxy as a replacement for the stock Galaxy model, but rather for a custom "hero ship" that I've programmed into A2.  As far as poly count is concerned, I've got a pretty good graphics card, so that shouldn't be an issue.

The specific name texture that I wanted to use was the USS Galaxy texture, if that's any help.

Don't you dare go around parading in my ship.  It's bad enough you stole three pips to parade around in your uniform with. :p

(Just a joke, for those of you who think I was actually serious about fictional stuff... :))
