Bartok's Basement
« on: June 23, 2005, 10:56:59 am »
Greetings All -

Just FYI - some/many? perhaps already have seen it in the list but.... I've got a server up.  it's been going for a number of days now and the turn rate is 1 game year/day.  Using FireSouls OP+ 4.0 ships.  I tried to eliminate some of the annoying missions after server launch (also monsters) but they still seem to pop up every now and then (diplomatic, negotiations).  Guess I'd need to drop the db and start it again, but didn't want the 25 or so folks to loose the characters they've created.

Anyhow - it's not anything stupendous, like the campaign work some have done (and are currently prepping) but it's a fun place to hang out IMHO.

Best Regards,

Bartok

ThanX Dizzy!!!

I'd be throlled to get any/all advice on running a server.  I'm glad I've got spare machine I can use to run one.  I got access to the D2 Admins forum, but that seems to be a somewhat quiet place ;)

I don't know that I'll be able to host the caliber of campaign that you and others have put up, but I'm psyched to have a spot that's (if nothing else) available to "relax" on and fly in between the bigger campaigns.

BTW - I just put in my order for the strategy guide and thought..... maybe something for server admins?  I've got one resource on basic server setups that I use as a reference but I'm sure there's more out there....

Cheers,

Bartok

Few in this community have the talent to do it all... there is a lot more to a server than getting it to appear on the list if you want peeps to play on it. And it usually takes several persons to make it all happen. So with a little help and some tips on what has and hasnt worked, Im sure you will get to the point where your servers will become fairly polulated.

Currently, there is too much downtime between campaigns so you have a good opportunity to get your servers up to snuff with everyone else.

I'm thrilled you are up for the challenge. I'll be available soon to help you.

Been flying here for a bit now,  good place to fly IMO. If only we could get Rom bases to appear in the yards! ;)
Thanks for hosting the server Bartok, it's great to have a fun server to play on again!
