Mnemosyne Class Prototype
« on: June 22, 2005, 10:44:14 pm »
Found this stashed away on my HD after I'd forgotten about it during the server switchover. I'd intended this as the original prototype ship for the Mnemosyne (Titan) series, and it has a few differences - notably the bluer paint scheme, alternate deflector, and missing warp engine phasers. Ironic that even when I'm not making Feds, I still find some to post...

Man, oh man! If this is what you have just "lying around", I'd love for you to a thorough inventory.

Quoting myself from here:

Quote
It's very good for just finding it laying around somewhere in your HD and blowing off the dust it collected.  Between the normal and experimental, I like the hull color of the experimental better but the deflector dish of the normal one better.  As for the warp nacelle phasers being there or not, I don't know.  Overall, good work.

As above - Aye!

Very cool variant WZ.

Ah... it brings back sweet memories of watching Starfleet and the Jem'Hadar go at it for the first time and not on reruns, either!

Excellent Ship WZ!  Boy I would love to take a look at your HD!  To have a ship that looks this great just sitting around, I could only imagine what else you have hidden away.

I do have a question though, how do you pronounce the name of this class?

I did a google search on the name.  Would this help?

The name Mnemosyne (pronounced nuh-moz'-uh-nee) belongs to the Greek Goddess of Memory...

From Wikipedia:

Mnemosyne (pronounced ni'mazini in RP i.e. standard English) was the personification of memory in Greek mythology. This titaness was the daughter of Gaia and Uranus and the mother of the Muses by Zeus.

Zeus laid with Mnemosyne for nine consecutive nights and thereby created the nine muses.

And finally: Mnemosyne was also the name for a river in Hades, counterpart to Lethe, Dead souls drank from Lethe so they would not remember their past lives when reincarnated. Initiates of Orpheus were encouraged to drink from the river Mnemosyne when they died, instead of Lethe.
If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then the deepest spy cannot discern it, nor the wise make plans against it.
