Question regarding adding background music for SFC2
« on: June 22, 2005, 04:44:15 am »
I want to add my own soundtrack to the game. I tried to add the wav file to the sfcmusic.zip file as a test but doesnt work ( I didnt think it would). Is there a tutorial around perhaps? Thanx!

Maybe this will help a bit.

I've changed the standard "menu screens" music, Fed battle and Klingon battle music.

I simply rename the wave file I want to install to the matching file name within the zip folder.

For example, the menu music is Mnu_a1.Wav and Mnu_a2.wav.   I renamed my files to those names.  Then I opened the sfcmusic zip and clicked the ADD button. Set compression to ZERO !  Click to add it.   It will want to overwrite....click yes.  Now I have the ending and beginning theme music from ST1.  ;)

The race battle music is a abbreviation of the the race name followed by a _a1 or _a2.
Federation battle music is FDT_a1.wav and FDT_a2.wav
Klingon is KLI_a1.wav and KLI_a2.wav   and so on.

My fed music is from ST2 when the Reliant and Enterprise first meet.
My Klingon music is from ST1 when the Klingons are attacking the v'ger cloud.   ;)

That's about all I know.    You can click the wave files inside the zip and it should open a music player and you'll hear what each file is, then you can determine if you want to change it or not.

Hope that is some help....

Thanks Capt Jeff, good info! I think the setting zero compression is where I might have went wrong. Will try again tonight.
