sorry if i picked on someones thoughts about TOS but why making more TOS fed ships that are some kind of prequels to TMP or later models, the feds taking over the Galaxy with that much ships, and i know that its easier to make feds because there is more refference for them out there but is there not enough tallent in this community to make other races ships  ;) ;D
thats the reason why i don't like this TOS remaking of ships of TMP Feds, there are enough of them out there for me and yes i have made a Romu V-20 but can't finish it because of that sh** BOP had texture that i can't get done right and i have given it up to finish this

and Atheorhaven it looks good now for a TOS version with TOS textures for the secondary Hull but without the Photonturret it looks not like an Maguellanes more like a TOS Menahga or that other FASA ship i can't remember the name of

and for me this looks more like an TOS Maguellanes, even if i think this is ugly looking compared to the TMP Maguellanes:

Looks great Alec!! ;D

As for remaking TOS versions of everything, I say why not? It's all sci-fi anyway, and if TOS were made today those designs might be what was done. TOS rules, and if I want to have a TOS version of the Defiant (been done by Alec), then by God I'll have one. We build for fun, so... ;D I mean look at that monstrocity I just finished for MP...looks like an Orion slave girls w** dream, lmao.

Lord Schtupp has a TOS Galaxy at his site.  He did a really good job with it, but the idea of a TOS Galaxy class is a little too extreme to fit into my universe.  Here's the picture of it from his site.

lol - so you think I put enuf windows in it or what... ah well she was my first model that seriously needs a makeover. I started building the model the nght of 9/11/01.  I wanted to build a ship with twinned warp nacelles (inspired by the twin nacelles of the B-52), not evident from the side view. Definitely came across with the bomber look to it.

Anyway good work Altheorhaven. Frankly the Maguellanes looks better as a TOS ship IMO because of its realtivly simple hull shape. Its actually cool looking. Ugly? Yes, but so was the Ju-87 Stuka, and that was a cool aircraft. Some TMP and TNG ships are derived from TOS or preTOS era ships, some are not. Who decides which? Only the enthusiast that envisions it. Obviously I am a proponent of exploring ship design lineage and applaud efforts of others doing the same as well as those who dare to say it doesnt look right. After all there where 1700 ships built before the Enterprise and there are 256 slots in available in the SFC2 shiplist.

I quite liked the TOS excelsior that was being worked on a couple of years ago, I dont know if it ever got released. Ive seen plans for a TOS defiant and Oberth that looked plausible.

Altheor - Maybe you can take the Photon bay from my Monitor or a p81 model, and integrate that into this model, that way it could be a prototype for such a weapons config. Give it a NX registry perhaps. It does seem to need it i.e. the purpose of such a design.

Also try using the warps from the SFB connie or pehaps the DN as the inside of the intercoolers are texture mapped differently so they dont have the warp engine glow (or remap the current ones yourself) ;D

Lord Schtupp,

That particular Galaxy model you did was a remarkable creation and a personal favorite of its kind. What I liked about it so much was the distinct impression of purpose of design. Not a five year mission on the frontier of Federation space. Compared to a Constitution it looks like it was intended to go deep into uncharted space and operate  independent for a decade or more. Not just another conjectural battleship that never got past the engineering CAD work. If Roddenbury had made a show about a voyage to the Galactic core this could have been the starship to do it with.

Overlook my straying from topic but it was a good opportunity to make a comment on that particular model.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programing.

I like the idea of using the Monitor's torpedo assembly if it helps make things plausible for some... it won't cause problems with the new design and still maintain the torpedo launcher idea, plus TOS it.

The TOS Excelsior was released... I remember doing the release shots for it.  ;)  And I worked on, and have released two TOS versions of the Defiant... the Connie version, and the DS9 version TOS-ized.  It can be found here:

http://www.the-tcs.net/_hosted/atheorhaven/html/userfiles/ships/trek/sfc2/tosdefiantv2.zip

Still have to update its textures one of these days.. :)

Think I've seen plans for an Obereth as well... and I do like the idea.. (grin)..

Hello Alec

I'd be interested in getting a copy of this beauty also Great Kitbash work as usual  ;D

I have to agree with ya there. Some ships shouldn't have TOS versions. I'm just happy there's no TOS Sovereign. ;)

np... noone has ever asked for one.  But if someone did, I think it'd be awesome to play with the design, specifically how to try and backdate some of the tech to make it look somewhat plausible.  :)  Call it a "design model" or whatever.  The thing I look at with these are: they're fulfilling someone's request, and they're fun to do.  I don't really care too much if they're canon or not, they fit into *someone's* universe, or else they wouldn't be asked for.  ;)

Almost redone the textures here on this one.. just have to fix the texture for the deflector and clean things up and it's almost good to go over to Khalee...

You know after looking at the ship some more it bears striking  resemblance to the Fed sfb war destroyer. All you need to do, is to scale it down and add a third engine to it. Just may do that once I get it. :D

Almost done... just need to do a bit of work on the back of the secondary hull.  Photons and phaser turrets have been added all around using the Monitor saucer and photons, so that should be good I think.  Here's a teaser shot as it stands (hiding the last area I need to work on):

One thing I think is funny is that some posters say that  the Maguellanes is an ugly ship without the TMP torp bay.  With that torp bay it's a beautiful ship, but without it, it's fugly.

You misunderstood me Khalee1 I like the ship, I was just poking a little fun at the posters who were saying that the torp bay is the sole difference between this ship being a great looking ship and a fugly ship.

Actually, it's French.  :)  My redirector has been doing that for a while.. you can still get to the site using the other rediector:

Beats typing out something _________________________________________________________________ this long.  ;)

At any rate, took a little bit longer than I was planning.. I realized that I was missing some work on the pylons, so I completed that first.

So here it is.. and send me a pic of it ingame so I can see it in some heated battles.  I like screenies.. ;)

I
I can only get 1.9meg off of the attachment, and then it says download complete. Can someone send this to BC so I can get this fine piece of TOS action?
